Here's another fun giggle! Please go to: https://youtu.be/9YBbL8vXxFo     This one is Scene #14.  Production by FFRC Captures and Captions, Directed by Derecho.  Helping Derecho is JustMe & SonJa.  Please like the video on utube if you enjoyed it. I know Derecho had a blast doing this one!

We've had another adoption!  Odetta went to her new home! She went as an emotion support cat for a special lady. I do think Odetta will fit this need just fine. And it's ok with her new mama if she get on the counter!

We've also heard from our other adoption kitties:
David Morgan and Horace.  David Morgan is now called Trip and Horace is called Luca.  Both are doing very well and their family is so happy they adopted both of them. They are super cuddly and love to play!

Claude & Laverne.  Both have adjusted really well and are quite spoiled. They are now called Butch & Pearl!  Pearl has learned to play "tag" with her dad.

Many of you may already know we lost a dear friend.  Zoolove/Pam Taylor passed away on Weds.  She lived in Coshocton, Ohio. She so loved all the cats here at the Rescue Center and was a wonderful supporter. Pam visited FFRC last year at Catstock time. I was so happy to have meant her in person.  She will be very missed by FFRC.  Here is her obituary:

I do need to let you know--we lost one of our Covies.  We've been having trouble with her as her health has deteriorated a bit. LeLe passed away quietly and peacefully. She was 13 years old but had seemed "old" for quite some time.  She arrived here when she was just 1 year old. LeLe came to us from a horse track where it was feared she would be hurt by the horses.  She was a wonderful sweet cat. We will miss her in the Cove.

We had BOXES today too!  Many, many thanks!
Nona--10 cases of baby food!
Justme for Vernie--2 boxes of Delectable Squeeze Ups
Anonymous Friend--2 cases of baby food!
Judy and Phil--big box of 6" plates, 3 pk. Clorox wipes, 8 rolls PT, 2 tubs Party Mix, case appetizers, 30 jars baby food, Twizzlers for vols.
Susan C--donation to FFRC

Tomorrow Steve and I and our family will be leaving for our vacation!  Hurricane Maria has left that area and today I was told by the rep, that the weather is beautiful! We will be back on 10/8.  Please, during that time, if possible, hold the emails, all messages and boxes! That'll help.  The volunteers and mods know how to get a hold of me if needed.

The Persian babies are doing very well.  All are nice and plump!  Julianne and Nsuku, the mamas are also doing very well and keeping their weight on.  Shalimar is one big kitten. He also has his eyes open! The others will follow soon in opening their eyes. They are also starting to wander a bit in their condos, which is fine. Today we have added plexiglass to the front of all 4 condos for their safety. No crawly baby walking thru the front! They are safe. When mamas are down on the floor now, we have to shut their condo pen door so no one falls out that way either.  Just think.....in 4 weeks or so, we'll have babies waddling around!

Take care and have a great upcoming weekend. I'll see you all again on the 8th! I'd just like to say an extra big thanks to you all.  Life is unpredictable. You all are appreciated by me. Just want you to know that. Big hugs and thanks for your friendship and your support of this Rescue Center.

Sunday, September 24, 2015

What a great day!  We will have a week of upper 80's. Yes, the humidity is high but what a way to usher in the Fall!  Leaves are turning, flowers are getting tired--a truly beautiful time of the year.

Our Flash Sale on Friday was super! We made $1,539.  Steve has already written off some bills and have the envelopes in the mail! I thank you for helping us with this. Thanks to those that donated the items, to the mods who are awesome at helping with these sales, to those that purchased or tried to purchase the items. And a big thanks to Mich and Vern for doing the sale! I am grateful.

We have more thanks to give too!
Kelly L--donation to FFRC
Conii--donation to FFRC in memory of Lucas
BillieK--donation to FFRC in memory of Thor and Lucas
Elisabeth W from GA--donation to FFRC

We had another two adoptions! Laverne and Claude! Two wonderful kittens. They went to the same home and was much waited for. Their new life as belonging to a family and a home have begun!

Update from the vets on Friday. Laverne was spayed. Bailey O had her tail amputation. She has approximately a half tail and she feels better. That must've hurt her as she is much bouncier now! Such a sweet girl!

And the best news of all--Marilyn is now spayed and her umbilical hernia is repaired--no more worry on that. She had an EKG done. More info on that later but it was safe enough for her to have an anesthetic! She came back to FFRC with a port in just in case we needed to quickly administer meds. But, she bounced back so fast and was rearing to go, so the port was removed fairly quickly and off she went!

We have names!!  I want to thank all those who participated in sending in a name and donation to name the baby persians. We have 9 kittens and received 32 names.  I whispered to the babies different names for their wishes.......yep, it's true!  Obviously, we have far more names than babies. All those names not picked will go over to the regular Name a Cat list.

Julianne:
Calico girl          Lynn
White girl           Paris
White girl           Mally
White girl           Marshmellow

Nsuku:
Calico girl          Purlissa
Bl/wh girl           Moana
More tan boy     Gingersnap
tan/white boy     Arvin
White boy           Shalimar

All babies and mamas are doing wonderful.  They were weighed yesterday--each and every baby has a good weight gain.

Please remember that I will be leaving early on the 29th and won't get back until the 8th early.  Because of no BOXES during that time, if it's possible, maybe box sending could be minimized so we don't block up the office! Thanks for understanding.

Remember our website!  It's awesome! If you haven't visited it yet, it's at fofrescue.org   You'll enjoy it!

Friday, September 22, 2017

Shhhh---I'm being stared at.  Gia is directly above me. She knows if I look at her and say "ok, come", she will come and jump into my lap.  I love it but imagine a 20lb cat in your lap! She curls up as tight as she can and then falls fast asleep while I maneuver over her to the keyboard.  I'll hold her off for a little bit yet!

We had an adoption this morning! Sweet little Lloyd went to his new home. His family came to get him so that he will be in the home waiting for her to return from school! She is going to love Lloyd, I'm very sure! What a wonderful kitten. And he keeps his name!

We had another adoption on Weds.  Branston went to his new home. Branston went to very good friends--Sue and Ray. Sue helps us every single time in surgery and Ray was a big part of building Earth Angels. Sue took one look at Branston last Saturday and fell for him. He's going to be a spoiled boy!

Just an FYI---Gia has moved a bit closer---I can feel her eyes on me!

I want to catch you up on Kismit and Goldiedots.  They did end up at the same home.  These were off cam adoptions.  Goldiedots first, followed by the need to have Kismit too!  All is good.

I have an update on Seymour. He is doing wonderful.  He's enjoying having just people company.  He gets stroll abouts every single day. His room is so very nice and comfortable and he's loving it.  All is good in Seymour world.

We had BOXES Weds. evening. You are so very appreciated!

Remember to "like" if you do!

We have 3 cats at the vets right now. Marilyn, Laverne and Bailey O.  Unfortunately LJ is 1 1/2 ounces too light for his neuter.  So, Bailey O took his place to get her tail fixed. We will get LJ in for his neuter very quickly so he can be adopted.

We've gone thru the range of emotions here today. Love those adoptions. Anxious for surgeries to be done. And....we have a loss.  This morning, out little Lucas passed away.  Sunday morning he was very poor and dehydrated. We were able to quickly work on that. For a couple days he ate well, had energy and even walked around a bit. But the underlying problem was still there--a probable respiratory virus. This morning, he woke and was very tired and would not eat his breakfast. He passed being held and told he was loved.  Thank you for loving him and keeping him close in your thoughts and prayers.

Please let's stay on the positive side about Lucas and with any cat or kitten that may pass. Yes, we would love for them all to "make it"--to thrive, to have a long life. But, of course, that is not possible. Many of these cats and kittens arrive here in very poor condition. We can just do the best we can, along with our vet's help, to help them feel better.  I would rather remember that these deaths were not "out there", with the cat or kitten being all alone. But, they were here, knowing a bit of comfort, love, warmth, food.  And.......we go forward. Always ready to help the next one.

The mamas Julianne and Nsuku continue to do well as are their babies. All 9 have such round tummies--so nice to see.  Won't be long until their eyes will be opening.

And yes, Gia was given the "ok, come" and is now snugged in for a lap nap!

Weds, September 20, 2017

Wow--I don't even know where to start. Busy times and changes here.

The Persian mamas are doing good. Both are now caring 100% for their own babies.  Julianne has been cleaning and feeding her babies just fine now. And Nsuku too is cleaning and feeding. All 9 babies have such round plump tummies! Many times during the day the mamas are out and about in the back Thumper's Room but they go right back to their babies to nap and feed. Babies are all clean and peacefully sleeping. Names soon for them!

Little Lucas has had a rough time. He decided to quite eating. He declined quickly and became very dehydrated.  Today is the third day and just this morning, I feel he's a tiny bit better. We've been giving fluids and syringe feeding often. Unfortunately his sutures to hold his lip together have failed. I've talked to Dr. Darcy about this and this will be taken care of later. This morning he even walked about a bit on the floor. But, he's back in his cozy pen for a nap. We will continue to syringe feed him as he is not yet eating again by himself. Klaus is keeping him good company off and on.

We also had 3 other kittens that were "off" Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. But I noticed this morning that all 3 are now eating with eagerness and up and about. A good sign that all is well.

We have thanks to give---you are appreciated!
Gill from England--a donation to FFRC
Marilyn Sobers--donation for snacks for the awesome volunteers
Sven W from Germany--donation to FFRC
Kris M from MN--donation for Derecho & Lucie

Jeanette P--donation to FFRC

We took 2 cats in on Monday late afternoon.
Flamepoint--unfortunately this wonderful cat did not survive. I'm very sorry to have to tell you this. It is thought that he was a CH cat, left outside. It is truly unknown whether he also got hit by a car or possibly wound up in the trash and wire that was in his environment. He'd already been released from wire before. The people involved in this rescue were so kind to bring him in--only wanting good things for him. And that is what we were hoping for. He never recovered but steadily and quickly went downhill. He passed away very early the next morning. I so wanted to give him a good life. I'm grateful he was here though--his tummy was full and he enjoyed hugs and kisses.

The second cat we took in almost at the same time as the flamepoint is a Himalayan. This is the first Himalayan since we had Putter. Putter was super awesome and truly the bestest hugger cat in the world.  He was affectionately called (and deservedly so)  Sheriff Putter.  This new cat is approximately 2 years old.  I saw that with a question as I am not positive yet. Tentatively we will place his birthdate at 7/7/15.  He was a shared rescue by several people, one of which is our volunteer Patcat. He had been found under a deck of an empty house. His back area is very thin furred.  The rest of his body was heavy with mats. Some we were able to pull gently out as they were just hanging on him, some had to be shaved out and some were combed out. He was very dirty and had a good bubble bath to remove all the dirt. His nails were very long and were trimmed. And he was so very hungry.  He tolerated all of this so nicely. He is already neutered and is declawed on the front.

Now.........he has a name! After much thought, he is given the name Deputy Donovan.  Deputy in honor of Sheriff.  Donovan means Dark Warrior. And in our book, it means Dark Cat Warrior. I feel quite sure he has fought hard to survive. No cat could possibly be a recent owned cat in the condition that he was found. Donovan has been tested, vaccinated and wormed. Today when we opened the door to the front Thumper's Room, he rather quickly came up.  This rescue living will take a little adjustment for Donovan but I do believe he is going to enjoy it. He seems to be a gentle soul.

We have our surgery dates made.
This Friday--Marilyn, LJ and Laverne will be going up.  LJ (if he weighs enough) will be neutered.  Laverne will be spayed.  Marilyn will have an EKG and echogram to make sure her heart is safe enough for her spay and hernia repair. Her umbilical hernia is quite large and it's time to get this taken care of, if her tests show she can handle the anesthetic.

October 19--Hensley and Felicity will receive their dentals and mouth x-rays.  The vet office is away that they are both CH cats and that Hensley is also a seizure cat.

October 27--Farrah and Paddy Purr will receive their dentals and mouth x-rays. They know that Farrah is a seizure cat and that Paddy Purr has a small murmur.

And I have another date to give you! On September 29 my family and I will be going to North Carolina again for a week of vacation--family time, ocean fun, lots of fun things planned to do together, rest and relaxation and book reading down on the beach!. We will return sometime on October 8.  All is covered here. Connie D will be doing breakfasts for me and giving meds. Connie S will care for my mom. The other volunteers are here and ready to do their normal things.  They all make it possible for me to leave! During this time, I will not be on my computer or phone. The mods and volunteers know though they can reach me.

Great news!  We will have a Flash Sale by Mich and Vern this coming Thursday at 2:30ish. Come join the fun! This will help FFRC to pay some bills!

Take care and enjoy this wonderful day!

Sunday, September 17, 2017

An extra busy few days. Yesterday was our FFRC surgery day. Everything went well. Here's the breakdown:
Boys:  Lloyd, Katmando, Claude, Ramsay, Rhulani and Branston
Girls: Florence, Bailey O, Cupid and Kukisi
Public--did 1 male and 1 female.

Total of 5 females and 7 males.  This now brings our total of spays/neuters for 2017 to 682--404 females and 280 males.  Keep 'em coming!

Lucas also had some minor surgery. You may ask.....who is Lucas?!  This is a little American Short Hair--brown tiger/white that came on Friday. He's a little boy--4 weeks old, with a birthday of 8/16/17.  He was probably tossed from a car--has the traditional marks.  Lip injury, and a fairly large laceration of his right lip. He's thin but has no fleas. He had to have 4 sutures put in his cheek/lip area to hold it together---and he's so tiny.  Lucas and Klaus are bunking together and spending curl up time together napping.

We also did lots of physicals. These physicals were normal, no problems, good lungs, good teeth, heart, etc.--Asha, Camvie, Elsie, Lamar, Buster, Jones, Kiara, Cutie, Lucy Ann, Magic, Pania.

Here's the notes on the others:
Binkerbell--little tartar, sternal heart murmur 2/6
Farrah--upper right K9 needs attention
Felicity--5 teeth needs attention
Hensley--2 fractured K9's and some tartar
Jones--small amount of tartar, but is ok
Lucie--both upper K9's fractured, no tartar
Paddy Cakes--4 to 5 out of 6 heart murmur, no treatment--shows no symptoms of this
Paddy Purr--lower left 307 tooth needs attention
Sea Turtle--left kidney small, cannot palpate right kidney
Zelda--inguinal hernia needs attention now

Many thanks to Joyce D for the pizzas for surgery and to Gusti for the drinks for surgery day.

We have a surgery date for 2 slots on Friday--would like to send Marilyn and Lloyd.  We will weight Lloyd later in week to check his weight to see if he's big enough.  Marilyn will have an ultrasound and an EKG before surgery. Her umbilical hernia is quite large--will try and do this repair and her spay.

We've had 4 more adoptions!
Storm went to his new home with Mich and Vern.  Already heard from them--Storm adds a whole new energy level to their home! Such a handsome boy!  He will be super spoiled!

Anchor & Luella--they went to their new home this morning---all the way to Canada. It's a 7 hour trip but they should do just fine! Luella has been picked out long long ago and finally has her new home. Anchor was chosen as their second cat.  So excited for these two!

Florence--she went to her new home this morning also. We lovingly said Florence is a Miss Diva girl, a Princess, a Queen in the making. She's like a bling-bling girl who loves to be told she's wonderful! The family that adopted her is happy about this and will let her be the cat she's destined to be!

The two newbies Branston and Rhulani are doing super. Both are up in the Main Area already and making friends.

The latest update on the Persian mamas!
Julianne had her kittens Friday morning. She had 4 live births.  She lost one kitten that was severely deformed--nothing we could do to save it.  While Julianne may not be the best bather to her kittens, she is nursing them very well.  All have nice round tummies.  The first 3 born were white and the last is a calico.

Nsuku had her kittens just this morning. She also had 5 live births. She too lost one kitten--could be called a "mummified baby"/stillborn.  That's where sometime early in gestation, a kitten simply stops growing and passes away.  A neonatal death.  Nsuku gave birth to a black/white kitten, two Paddy colors, a calico and then an all white one.  One of the Paddys had a difficult start but with much coaxing started breathing better.  All 5 are now doing great.

We have names from the Name a Purrsian!  We'll wait a little bit and then give names.  The names that we cannot use (we had more than 9 names!) will then go on the Name a Cat List and be used at some time.  This I know for sure though--the calico born to Julianne will be named Lynn for our friend and mod that passed away.

I love giving thanks! We had BOXES on Friday evening.

Friday, September 15, 2017

Yesterday was our HumaneOhio surgery date. We had 40 cats/kittens arrive between 5:30-6:05 am.  By 6:25, they were loaded onto the truck and on their way to Toledo. They arrived back here about 6:00 pm and all the owners picked up their cats to take back home. Many of these cats are strays that people are trying to help.

Of the 40 cats, we had 24 females and 16 males.  Our total now comes to 399 females and 273 for spays/neuters---a grand total of 672!  We want to do more and more. This is so important in preventing all of the overpopulation of cats.

Saturday is our FFRC surgery date. We have some spays/neuters to get done on our own cats here. And we have many physicals too to do.

We have taken on 3 new kittens:
KLAUS--black baby kitten.  He was found all by himself with no other littermates or mama. He was only 3 1/2 weeks old and arrived with a few fleas. He's a spunky boy and just now starting to feel stronger. His birthday is 8/18/17.  He's eating really good by himself now. Such a sweet baby.

RHULANI--brown tiger. His name means PEACE which is so important. This youngster arrived at 11 weeks old. His birthday is 6/21/17.  He arrived after being found by himself. He has the cutest face--it's round but with a distinctive flattish frontal look. His eyes are very round and goldish. And he is ornery in every sense. This kitten rarely walks--yesterday all he did was run and he literally was using the walls to bounce off of! And then come rushing up to us for pets. He's a dandy.

BRNSTON--a siamese with gorgeous blue eyes. He's about 9 months old with a birthday of 1/8/17. He came from a volunteer's yard where he had been seen for a couple weeks.  He's doing wonderful--is sure enjoying making new kitty friends. And he loves to be petted and talked to. He loves all the toys!

Julianne and Nsuku are hanging about in the back Thumper's Room. Today marks the first day that they could be due to have their kittens. We have never known before the due dates of any pregnant cats that has comehere.  Generally a cat is pregnant 64-67 days. One of the daddies was pure white and the other was black and white. So....we may have some surprises! Just a few facts that you probably already know:  kittens are born both blind and deaf. Newborn kittens need to be fed every 2-3 hours. All kittens are born with blue eyes.

Take care everyone. Have a great weekend and enjoy your families, friends and pets.

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

The cats and kitties have so enjoyed all the extra petting and huggings while our visitors are here. Let someone sit down and poof---there's kittens in their laps!  Right now I have 6 sleeping kittens on my desk--normally they would be romping away but today they are napping!

Little Bailey-O reopened her wound on her head.  We now have a paper cone on her which she is tolerating pretty well.  As soon as more healing takes place, we will hopefully be able to get that off quickly.  She's feeling better--is walking around and is eating good.

We had BOXES last night!  I am so appreciative. You all make such a huge difference to this Rescue Center.

Update on farm animals! All is good.  The little ducklings are as big as mama--can't hardly tell which one is mama anymore! They all survived and doing great. Noisy bunch of ducks!  We did lose a goose a couple weeks ago.  We are down to 4 geese now. These geese are all in their 20's.  The chickens are doing good and never miss a "Here chickie chickie" call---they know goodies are coming!  The horses too are doing good. So glad we have that safety fence for Mercy. Twice recently she got spooked and have ran into a fence. Thank goodness she wasn't able to run into the Covies playground fence--that fence wouldn't have survived.  She is fine and is so enjoying all the grazing!

We have been busy putting things back in storage and reorganizing Catstock items. The tent is now down and the band trailer is gone. CD's are going out. Most shirts have already been sent. Cookie orders from names drawn are being done.

We had an extra awesome adoption!  Pippi went to her new home. You all probably know that Craig and his family adopted Daisy the dog and Solee our black CH cat.  They have now adopted Pippi! And she is doing absolutely wonderful! She loves her new wheel, the kuranda tower, looking out the patio door and being a part of this family! So very happy for her!

Fall is starting to touch us. Leaves are slightly yellow--have lost their green luster color. Been chillier but this weekend should be in the low 80's!

This Thursday is HumaneOhio's surgery date.  Saturday is our FFRC surgery date. Here's the tentative schedule: Kukisi, Lloyd, Florence, Laverne, Katmandu, Bailey O, Cupid, Claude.  We will be doing physicals too on some of them.  Claude will also have his tail looked at.  Bailey O will have her head wound checked. And of course, Nsuku and Julianne will have another physical. Marilyn too will be rechecked. Buster will have a physical since he is a new adult here. We will also have a few public cats coming in for their spays/neuters.

2017 Catstock is now over and it was awesome! We had so many people here coming together in friendship--that was the best part!  And our viewers joining us on the cam---that was wonderful. The food was yummy.  The Strawberry Hill band was superb!

Had lots of rocks painted. They will be sprayed today and then put out front under the FFRC sign!  The big 4' x 4' cat mural is completely colored and looks beautiful. The Friend Exchange table was fun! Cat bingo was going strong. And the weather.......it was absolutely perfect!

We had a 50/50 collection. $546 was collected and so FFRC made $273!

Wolfpatch was here with his delicious cookies! We had the drawing for the people who bought yum-raiser tickets! Those names drawn will get an email asking for their cookie of choice and then fresh made cookies will be sent!  Those winners are: Nikka (2), JanefromTN (2), Diana Eve, Kimkost, Anonymous friend for FFRC, Bonnie Ta.  Congrats!  We sold 421 tickets, making $2105.  We had 361 tickets at $351 and higher, making the matching amount at $1805.  We then made $240 here at Catstock on the cookies. The GRAND total for Wolfpatch's cookies came to $4,150.  A staggering amount!  Last year we made $3,620.  Wolfpatch----please know how very grateful FFRC is to you!

The JamJar--money for the Strawberrry Hill fund was wonderful---we were able to give them a bit over $650!  Thank you for your support.  This band is absolutely wonderful.  Lots of great songs! I appreciate each person who contributed to this fund for the band.

Our judges had a secret meeting and gave their choice for the best 2 dressed people!  They are Peggy S and Faithy!  Dressing up is always fun!  Part of the fun of Catstock is being able to act like a kid!

FFRC was given a donation.... if I could sit still for 5 minutes.........and I did it!!  Whew--that was hard!  That donation will go towards our huge medical supply bill.  Many thanks to our anonymous donor friend!

We topped off the day with a big Pizza supper!

Many thanks to our volunteers, to Lynnette, to our mods, admins--so many people who helped us make this event a success!

Many thanks to you all for this help too!
Ugur M--donation to FFRC (from Germany)
Thomas W--donation to FFRC

Rose's cousin Connie--cat purse!

Brent & Jenny--a full, complete with no room to spare load of goodies for the Rescue Center---so much variety. I am super very grateful. And yet, they were able to save a bit of room for SonJa and Winklin!

We have a CD to offer!  Mike, our friend that played his wonderful songs for us at the first Catstock, has sent us another supply of the FFRC Putter songs. These are all songs that Mike sang for us--all songs about FFRC and with sweet Putter on the front of the package! They normally sell for $15 but they are on special (by a good sponsor) for only $6.  If interested, send your payment thru Paypal or a check, with an explanation.  No extra needed for shipping!

We also had other friends that arrived for Catstock with gifts of goodies for FFRC.  Forgive me, things happened so fast, I didn't get to write everything down. But please know that the cats and I are deeply grateful. These are the things that help us stay afloat!

We've heard from the mama who adopted Horace and David Morgan. She says the kittens are so cuddly, perfect for their little family. And they love the laser light! Sounds like happy kitties.

This Thursday is our next HumaneOhio surgery day.  Saturday is our FFRC surgery day.  One of my favorite things..........spays/neuters!  The best though are placing these cats and kittens into their wonderful new homes!  And then to hear how they are doing!

Bailey O's ear had been healing....until this morning. And then she decided to do the itch on the ear. She is now in a makeshift tiny e-collar.  Thanks to Indy for helping to design this out of duct tape. It works!

Little Bailey O's ear is slowly but surely healing. That sore was pretty sore but today (finally) looks like healing has begun. She is ever so sweet.

LJ the baby kitten is doing so much better. Eating everything in sight and is slowly growing now (at least in the tummy!!).  She is snoozing away with Coco and Brenna right now.  We have so many kitty groups that lump together for naptimes.

Pippi is here in the office with me. She loves to play with the other cats and loves going high too. She is always careful. Such an extra special cat.  She and Asha like to hang out together.

This week we had a big weigh in  and toe nail trimming day. Weights are all good.  Ears look good too! And we have some of the most excellent purr-ers in the world!

We're still in the middle of our "Name a Purrshun" fun time. For $25, you can send in a name suggestion for when the babies are born.  We will use these special names for naming the Persians. The extra ones will be put into the Name a Cat Name list and will be used!  Their due date is anywhere from September 15-18. It's rare that we know when a female gets pregnant but in this case, we do.  Now........I've had a talk with both  Nsuku and Julianne. We have surgery here at FFRC on the 16th. And we do have to use our surgery room which is the back Thumper's Room. So, I've asked them to wait until Sunday. That way surgeries are done, I'll get a good nights sleep and can be available from Sunday morning on---with a request to wait until after breakfast time on Sunday!  They both looked at me like I was crazy! Time will tell. You know cats---they have their own time schedule!

Want to extend a safety wish for all of our friends in Texas, Florida and the east coast as these hurricanes have been tough this year. Please take care.

On to Catstock........let's rock and roll and have a good time!

Spay and Neuter---that's the name of the game to help with this huge cat overpopulation problem. We know that people are very interested in getting their cats done--we are booking each event very quickly.  Today was a HumaneOhio day. We checked in 34 cats and kittens. This breaks down to 16 males and 18 females.  These days that we do surgeries is always questionable. Some people book for 4 ferals and only trap 2. Some book for 3 and set 5 traps and come in with 5.  We want them all--the overpopulation problem is very sad and hurtful. Kittens are being born at this very second--and no home for them. The problem can be so simply prevented by spaying and neutering.

Here' our numbers now:  For 2017 we have now spayed/neutered 632 cats and kittens. This comes from 375 females and 257 males.

Because of doing surgery check outs at 5:30ish, we will do BOXES at 4:00 today.

Here's some upcoming dates:
Sept. 9--CATSTOCK!  Trailer comes Thursday for the band.  Big tent comes Friday.
Sept. 14--HumaneOhio surgery day
Sept. 16--FFRC surgery day

We've had another adoption! Darzin went to his new home! He was picked up by his new owner's grandma who was going to deliver him to his new mama. He has been a long anticipated kitten!

We have thanks to give---sure do appreciate you!
Tracy L--donation to FFRC
David D--donation to FFRC
Hallie G--donation to FFRC

Wow--we have now reached 20,000,000 viewers on our KittyCam!  I cannot even imagine that. I still remember the first 100, the first 1000. And when we reached our first million, I was just totally in awe of you all!  Just for fun, I looked up what just 1 million dots looked like on a page. Multiple that by 20 and that's mind boggling! This represents YOU---our wonderful viewers.

The Harlequin Shirts are in! And are they ever wonderful!  Many thanks to Larissa and to Megan for making this possible.  They will be out in the mail soon. For those coming to Catstock that ordered shirts, you can pick them up then!

Update on Julianne and Nsuku.  Both are getting bigger.  And they both are exploring more and more. Nsuku is braver. Julianne loves to be petted.  When the time gets a bit closer, we will be putting the two pools in the back Thumper's Room for them.

The Yum-Raiser continues until 9 am Weds. morning. The winners --8 of them--will be drawn during Catstock!

All is good here. We've had a couple kittens with the sniffles but they are better now. Energy levels are sky high--truly have to do the kitty shuffle here. We've been letting the doors open to the front and back Thumper's Rooms alot lately so all of the cats can mingle back and forth.

We have two new cats.
Bailey O which means brave girl. She is black/white with black ears and a white chin. She's 8 weeks old but is only 1.09.  She arrived here at 8 weeks of age. Her birthday is 7-9-17.  She had lice, fleas, anemia and a right ear wound that is fairly large. She's on antibiotics, has had a medicated bath and is eating everything in site! She is one sweetie pie that loves attention! It won't be long until she's out with the rest of the group.

Buster is a large adult tan/white cat. We have him down as a Turkish Van---such a handsome boy who knows he has a gorgeous fluffy tail! He is 2 years old with a birthday of 8/24/15. When he first arrived, I wasn't sure of his personality but he has already showed himself as a big sweetiepie. The kittens look at him with big eyes---Buster is a big size boy with his long fur. Super nice cat.

Take care to everyone! Enjoy this wonderful day. FOUR more days to Catstock!

Zip, zap, run like crazy, chase me, tag--you're it!  These kittens are absolutely nuts sometimes!  Who am I kidding---they are goofy most of the time!  Climbing, running, tussling and zooming by! Healthy kittens make for some really fun times!  They sure do bring a lot of joy here to the Rescue Center.

The kitties and cats and I have thanks to give to you!
Katrina S from FL--donation to FFRC
Judy T and Jackson Jr from CA---Science Diet kitten dry, Friskie can & Friskie pate

Brenda R from VA--donation to FFRC to be used as needed

Vaun/vrs--30 awesome, beautiful blankies for the kitties!

Are you an Amazon buyer?  Remember, if you go to our website at fofrescue.org and click onto the Amazon link!  Anything that you order there, FFRC gets a bit of a kick-back. It can be items for FFRC, yourself or to anyone!  For the month of June, we just received $454.89!!  That's like free money for us!

Thursday we had our Flash Sale, by Mich and Vern. Many thanks to these two for their time and love.  Also I'd like to thank the mods---they are certainly a big part of the success of these Flash Sales. And then.........everything that was sold was donated by different people-----a big thanks! And to all of you that purchased the items---you are wonderful!  We made $1,168 for this sale.  This will go directly onto our vet bills/supplies.  Just this week alone, we had to order supplies that have come to over $2,400.  Tests, medicines, vaccines, wormers---it all adds up.

We have another Giggle Show! These are just fantastic!  The site is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc3XF2XU-2Y&feature=em-uploademail     It's the Giggle show Scene 13. Production by FFRC Captures and Captions, Directed by Derecho. Please like the video on utube if you enjoyed it!

Starting today is our Yum-Faiser--as part of a pre-Catstock fun! It ends Weds. at 9:00am.  You can buy 1 ticket or any amount of tickets. And the prize this time is COOKIES!  And not just any old cookies, but the famous Wolfpatch Cookies--handmade by his very own hands!  Just send a PayPal or a check (but if by check, send me an email with directions).   There will be EIGHT names drawn and announced during Catstock.  Those winners will receive an email asking which type of cookies they would like. Then the winner will receive 4 dozen of fresh made cookies. If you pick the Almond Crescents (highly recommended!), it will be 8 dozen.  The kinds of cookies are:    Oatmeal Raisin, Almond Crescents, Snickerdoodles, Chocolate Chip with Walnuts, Peanut Butter and Butter.  And it just so happens, if you are at Catstock, you'll get to sample!  Big thanks to Wolfpatch. Plus we have another awesome addition to this. Anyone that does $50 or more for this Yum-Raiser, will have their amount doubled by a special anonymous friend!

Because of the tremendous amount of spays/neuters that FFRC is doing, on our own kittens and cats, we have bills to pay.  The Yum-Raiser will help with this.

The Persian girls--Julianne and Nsuku--are doing wonderful. Nsuku came up again to the Main Area this morning. Julianne is definitely enjoying being petted.  The two newest kittens, Claude and Cupid are now out of their pens and roaming about in the back Thumper's Room. Their URI is much better, their appetites are good and they enjoy playing.

SIX more days until Catstock. So much fun planned! And if you are a viewer, no worries! We will involve you with the cam views.  You will also be able to see the band--Strawberry Hill.  They are just awesome!  And you'll be able to see the fun under the big tent and the shelter house.  Also, there are a few surprises that you'll see on the cam, just for you viewers!
