Chirper--our adult brown tiger found a wonderful home where there's lots of lap time and petting time! I'm always extra thrilled when an adult goes into a super loving home!
Shema Anne--she was adopted to a wonderful family! Very excited for Shema Anne. Such a wonderful, ornery, loving kitten--she has a home!
The persian babies are growing. Their weights range quite differently! I tell them they're growing like weeds! Sometimes at a quick glance, I mix up the mamas with Marshmellow and Shalimar. Their energy level is sky high as is their cuteness and orneriness! Love watching them. Their mamas are doing good--both are healthy. We are giving them a bit of time together on the floor--supervised, of course. On the 9th of December, we are including the Persian kitties on our surgery list. These kittens have no fear--they climb, zip, jump, pounce--their energy is limitless and then..........they crash into deep nap time!
We took in 2 new kittens. Kittens that are thrown from a vehicle usually have the typical "tomato face"--abrasions all around their mouths. You see, they usually land face first, rarely on their feet. The impact usually pulls the skin around their lower jaw down, causing a gap there in their lower jaw. This time however, one of them also landed on a paw. These two came from different areas but within days of each other, both weigh the same and they licked each other's faces when introduced. We are calling them siblings, whether they really are or not.
MASANA--black. Her name means sunrise--we figure she needed a new sunny start. She arrived with the mouth lacerations and lip sag. She also has a large swelling in her right front ankle. She's weight bearing on it and it will heal without anything medically needed. We're just encouraging some pen rest daily so she doesn't overdo. Her birthday is 10/3/17--just a baby. Her tail was also partially painted white but we have that removed. A real sweetie. She arrived 11/21/17.
RITA--calico/tiger with a pink nose and a gold dot on her forehead. She arrived on 11/25/17. She too has the usual mouth lacerations and lip sag. In addition, she has a small abrasion on her lower abdomen and her left rear heel. Another sweetie---all she wants is to be held.
This is what bothers me too about people who feel the need to play Toss the Kitten out the Window. As usual, many of these kittens are ever so friendly. Now......somewhere, someone has treated these kittens kindly. How does this happen that they get tossed? Just a quick answer to their own problems of what to deal with too many kittens? Apparently so. I cannot imagine what makes it "feel right" to do so. At least an alternative is to place the kitten on the ground to avoid injuries. But......no matter. These kittens are here, they are safe and already loved. And this is where we have to dwell on the positive. We can't do anything about the negative things that happen but we can put our energy into improving the quality of these kittens lives---and that is where we go with our thinking.
I'd like to say a big thanks to our mods---you all are awesome and I believe in each of you. You care for FFRC, you take care of us. No matter how busy I am, I know I can depend on them.
And a thanks to our Admins--what another awesome group of people. They take care of our facebook page. And they do a terrific job.
And a thanks to our lurkers--you are appreciated too!
And a thanks to our chatters--to get to know you as friends is something that is just a wonderful thing. You care for our kitties and cats as if they were your own. Truly, we do share our cats and kittens with you all--I too feel they have many Aunties and Uncles!
And of course, a huge thanks to our volunteers. They give and they give and they give. Their compassion runs deep. We would certainly not be who we are today without our volunteers.
And another thanks---to ALL of you "out there". I appreciate what you do for FFRC. You all make a huge difference in many ways to this Rescue Center.
Enjoy this wonderful Sunday!
