We've had another adoption!
Kenzel went to her new home. This family had come in several times to visit her. She was always a "melted kitten" in their arms! So happy for Kenzel.

Carnie Bear is doing so great. The new family says they love him and he is perfect.  He settled right in and is sleeping with them and is happy!

Carolyn, who adopted Bertha 3 years ago is also doing great. Her name is now Sally.

Great news!  Our Pampered Chef party went super!  Melissa, who is the Pampered Chef consultant, sent a note.   "I did a party for Angie L to get items for FFRC.  I gave a white stone, tortilla warmer, a cookbook, mix and chop, silicone prep bowls. I also gave a check from a donation of the money from the show.  I donated $100.00 plus you got about $800.00 hostess free stuff (This will be used in our next Catathon!). So glad we could help out. Looking forward to another show in the spring."  Thanks, Melissa and Angie L and to all those that purchased items!

We took on a new kitten. His name is Basani, a Name a Cat name. A lady found him and brought him to FFRC.  He is a possible hit by car, his back legs were terribly sore and wobbly. He is also being treated for a slight URI.  It's like he has a slight neurological problem with his hips, legs and also for potty issues.  He was given antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and soreness meds.  Today............wonderful news!  He could tell he had to potty and actually pottied in his litterbox......progress!  Ohhhhh, we get so excited about good litterbox improvements!  Basani is super sweet.  He LOVES to be held and purrs constantly. He even kneads his little paws while he's sleeping!  Basani is a grey kitten with a white diamond and white tummy. His birthday is 9/2/19 and he arrived 11/25. He weighs 2.08, a bit thin but he's enjoying his meals!

And we have more thanks to give!
Stephanie M--donation to FFRC
Colleen P--donation to FFRC
KM T--donation from the Aldrin Family, in memory of Michael Cromer
James W--donation for FFRC
Lila T--donationi for Basani
Anne L--donation in memory of Martin
Lu-Little & Benny--donation in memory of August, Dizzy and little Martin

Tomorrow morning we have an adoption!  Not positive which kitten will go yet, but the family is awesome and will take excellent care of whichever one they pick!

Saturday late morning, our sweet Jewel Elizabeth will be going to her new home. She will have a quiet home. The type of home that will let her blossom! So happy for her.

The 3 new kittens, Trippadoo, Weezie and Sita are doing great. They are now in the Main Area and have joined the crazy kittens in their play! So fun to watch.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving!  For my family, we will be going to my sister Patti's house! She loves to cook which is so nice! I am thankful for the volunteers who will be here tomorrow, a holiday, to watch over the cats and kittens. On an FFRC level, I am so grateful for all of our volunteers, our mods, our admins, our chatters and lurkers, our internet friends--our entire FFRCNation.  Never could there be a nicer, kinder, compassionate group of people.  And last but not least..........I am so grateful for each and every kitten and cat that is here. It is a true honor to care for them. They truly are such wonderful felines!  Have a very nice day tomorrow. Please know how grateful I am for each of you.

Sunday, November 24, 2019

Our Charnie Bear was adopted yesterday. He was here only 9 days and had at least 10 applications before I stopped taking any more!  He went to an awesome family that was so ready for a sweet, fluffy boy to love!  And now.....if we can only get that wonderful Dooey adopted!

I don't like these kind of times--too hard on the heart. As you know, we lost our August last week.
And now we have lost Dizzy. She passed away yesterday, 11/23. Dizzy arrived 8/13/19 from Dr. P's office. We knew she had severe stomatitis and was treated for that. About a month and a half ago, Dr. Darcy rechecked her and it was realized that she also had mouth cancer--and was progressive. Dizzy was checked again a couple weeks ago. We knew then it was just a matter of time. But, she surprised us all and ate really good for 2 weeks and actually gained weight. But yesterday, the cancer tissue interfered more with her swallowing. She didn't eat yesterday and last night had a trouble swallowing . It was time to let her go. She was held, kissed and left so peacefully. A hard loss. I'm glad she was with us as I feel she knew she was well loved.
We had also taken in a wee kitten yesterday, 3 1/2 weeks old with probable CH. He was born in a barn, a single kitten and his presence was not really known about until Saturday, yesterday. There apparently was a big cat fight in the barn which drew attention to this kitten by the family. The people there noticed his imbalance and brought him in. We named him Martin. The short time he was here, was a bit rough--he cried......alot. And he just didn't have much strength to nurse properly. He was kept warm, had his Purple Purring Mama and given formula, as he would permit. He passed away this morning, in the early hours as I was holding him.
Let's hope all goes more smoothly now. These are heartbreakers for sure. But, even knowing what is probably going to happen, FFRC is honored to take these kitties/cats in and at least show them the love that is in the world. Never do we want anything to pass without feeling that special love.

We also took in 3 new kittens Friday. They were brought in because they could no longer live in the apartment complex that they were born at. All 3 are sweet, born 8/10/19 and are 15 weeks old. Their names came from the Name a Cat list.
Sita--black with white diamond, armpits and tummy, female
Weezie--all black tiger, male
Trippadoo--black tiger and white, male
They are right now in the back Thumper's Room.  They are playful, healthy and happy kittens.

And we have thanks to give.......
Kelly L--donation to FFRC
Susan A--donation for Martin
Madisonpepper--donation for a blankie for Martin (which he did get)
Marie C--donation for Martin
BillieK--donation in memory of Covie August & Dizzy and for medical needs for Zini

Short blog.  Just enjoy your day and give your pets much love.

The kitties received an early Thanksgiving meal!  Thanks to Patrick and Vicki who baked a turkey just for the cats and kitties.  They have had snackers of turkey a couple times this week! And now, they have another special Thanksgiving meal for Thursday, from the Fur Haven Cats too!

We had our Fun-Raiser on Weds.  It was awesome. Sometimes my thank yous are hard to say in the magnitude that I want them to be.  This FFRCNation that we have is amazing and so very supportive. You all make me want to do the very best that I can for each and everyone of these kitties and cats. I thank you for making it possible for what we do here.

This is the short version of our Fun-Raiser.  So sorry--I lost some of the info.

Fio had one set of sutures removed.  A couple more days and the other set will also be gone. He did a jump from the kuranda tower and landed square on!  Desmond and Donell are both gaining weight. And that little Donell is finally realizing that we are friends!

Zini, the newest grey/cream torti is now up and about in the Main Area. She's doing good--seems relaxed. Her surgery for that very large hernia has been changed a couple times.  It is now scheduled for December 2, a Monday.

I wanted to give an update on Dizzy.  She has had two weeks here since Dr. Darcy saw her again. And they've been a good 2 weeks. Her appetite has been good, she has gained weight.  But the truth is also still there--her cancer in her mouth is growing. So........we've been doing good holding, petting, feeding and loving on her.

All is good here.  The kittens are growing, the cats are happy, more adoptions coming up!

Weds., November 20, 2019

We have a NEW grand total for our Feliz Navidad/Fiver Friday!  It is officially at $11,800.00.  Absolutely awesome. Every single penny will be well used.  Thank you for this latest bumper-upper!

Elsie is doing wonderful in her new home. The travel to Colorado went smoothly--no problems anywhere along the line.  I've heard from Robin a couple times along with pictures.  Elsie has settled in beautifully.  This is another proof, that if these cats are given love, a good feeling about themselves and confidence, MOST of them can find their very own home!

We had another adoption also. Our Dutchess went to her new home yesterday, 11/19.  Dutchess spent the far majority of her home in the front Thumper's Room. I have a feeling that she had been an outside cat but seemed to be enjoying an inside way of living.  A family came and saw her and thought they would really like to have her as their new pet. Her adoption took place where Dutchess was comfortable at---the Thumper's Room. They have a really nice wrap around enclosed porch that she will have access to, if she would like to.

Fio is doing awesome.  Just a tiny bubble now on the right eye. And that is slowly going down.  Today he gets the sutures out from the left eye. He stays out now 24/7 and is doing just fine. Ornery, playful, confident.  What a great little guy.

The two littlest, Desmond and Donell are also doing great.  Growing, eating good. They both go in the double lower condo in the main area for night time.

Monday was our HumaneOhio spay/neuter day.  Our numbers were a bit lower than usual. We sent up 28 cats.  20 were females and 8 were males.  Our total so far for 2019 is 1061.

We had BOXES on Monday! We sure do love boxes!

We have taken on a new adult cat. Her name is Zini, a Name a Cat name. She is a muted torti and is ever so nice. Her birthday is 10/14/18. She has the largest abdominal hernia we have ever seen, including our vet. She had been in a person's yard for a week. When they petted her, they noticed this huge hernia and asked if we could help her.  Her surgery is scheduled for this Monday.

Charnie Bear is doing wonderful. He's up and about in the Main Area. Such a handsome guy. He seems very comfortable with the other cats and with people.

All cats will receive a free Capstar and wormer. Also an ear tip, if desired.  If you'd like to schedule your MALE cat, please call our office weekdays 9-5 at 419-393-2400.

I have some sad news to pass along:
August, our CH Covie cat has made his way to The Rainbow Bridge.  He had a urinary plug that became very bad, very quickly.  I spoke to Dr. Darcy about different options, none of which were good.  Because he was outside and basically liked to stay away from people most of the time, it would be impossible to treat. To give him daily meds would not be a "thing" that August would like or tolerate. To add to the problem, we could not make sure that he only got the special food that he would be required to have. To bring him up to the main area was not an option--it was not his home and he would not be happy.  A PU (perineal urethrostomy) surgery was not agreeable either as it would still take care and would take careful watch and observation afterwards which was not something that would be feasible with him.  All in all, we did not want his life to be filled with medicines, special diet, change in his lifestyle--all things that August would not like. I am of the belief that we do not do things to a cat that would not be enjoyable to that cat.  August loved his life as a Covie. He and Jackson came to FFRC together.

We also have an update on Matisse.  She is doing wonderful and is loved so very much. She just slipped right into their home and made it hers as well. I've also seen pictures of Aleesha and Applejack--they too look so comfortable and happy in their new home.

Just an FYI--our sweet Jewel Elizabeth is on hold and will be adopted on the 30th.

Join us today at 2:00 for BOXES and the drawing for our Fun-Raiser, followed by Consolation Prizes.  This fun-raiser will go towards our electric bill, the sewer bill and the propane bill.

Sunday, November 17, 2019

Fiver Friday. Wow--it was First-class, Fantastic, Fabulous and 100% Fine!!  One of the most awesomest days ever for FFRC. Throughout the day, stories were read, pictures were shown, medical items shown and explained, fake "hurt" cats were presented and discussion of their treatments given--lots of fun things! Each session was also followed up by a new total. We did 7 sessions through the day.
Here's how the tally board went:
5:40 am----$644          Friday
7:30 am----$1,629
9:30 am----$2,809.17
11:45 am---$3,825.54
2:10 pm----$4,615.54
4:45 pm----$6,330.54
7:45 pm----$8,2225.54
9:15 am----$11,291.71     Saturday
Grand total:    $11,636

Our Chain of Compassion, which consists of each name of the donors, was measured at 47 feet!!  It is still hanging up, looped across the FFRC near the ceiling.

Now, where in the world can I find enough thank yous to give? It's not possible so I will give my most deepest, sincerest, heartfelt thank you to you......our awesome FFRCNation.  It's a true blessing to have this cushion for our Feliz Navidad Fund. Every dollar will go towards the need of a cat or kitten, to help with medical needs.  And actually, we already dipped into this fund.  The reason......

......our little Fio had to go back to the vet's office yesterday for another surgery.  A tiny wee blood vessel was leaking and the blood was accumulating behind his incision of his right eye. Dr. Darcy stayed after hours to help Fio.  A new incision was done, removal of the blood clot and the blood vessel found and clamped off.  He is doing fantastic and is already on the floor playing and having fun.  Many thanks to Elizabeth and Angie for taking him to the vets office and bringing him home.

Please know how utterly grateful I am to our FFRCNation. I am always humbled by your generosity, your compassion and that you really do love our cats and kitties too.

We had 3 adoptions yesterday!
Aleesha and Applejack went with their new mom and dad. This couple was so ready to take their kitties home! It was wonderful to see.  And I always love when siblings go together. They were loved from the moment they were chosen!

Matisse went to a family that was very excited to have her in their home.  I've already seen pictures of her in the new home--complete acceptance and much love is there.

And today...........a most special adoption.  Elsie will be traveling with her new mama to her new home.  Everything that Elsie is familiar with here and is on her list of favorites, is awaiting her at her new home!  Robin will be here around 10:00 to visit the cats and kitties again. And then the departure time from here is around noon.  Elsie and I've had a talk--she is truly ready for this adventure. What a day she will have--car rides and a plane ride.  Robin has done her homework and has everything under control.  We have all of Elsie's traveling papers ready. Remember too that Robin has a facebook page for Elsie and her other 2 cats! We'll keep you all informed of the travel progress today.

We have more thanks to give!

Tomorrow is our HumaneOhio day. We are hoping for a full truckload to take up! We love these spay/neuter days.  Tomorrow is also our Advisory Board Meeting. Plus, we will be doing BOXES at 1:00.  Full, busy day!

We also started our November Fun-Raiser today.  These funds will go towards our utility bills--electric, propane gas and sewer bill.  We have 8 awesome items. Think Christmas! We will have BOXES on Weds. at 2:00 with the Drawing and Consolation Prizes following that.  More information on Facebook and also shown on a video on our cam.

Little Desmond and Donell are doing wonderful!  They are both down on the floor now, fairly often during the day. They are eating good, growing and are silly kittens. Such personalities!

We have a new cat. His name is Charnie Bear---a very handsome boy. He is part Persian, is silver grey and checked in at 10 pounds. He lived in a house his whole life. The other cats in the house liked to pick on Charnie Bear (a Name a Cat name). The owner didn't want Charnie to be afraid so he asked if FFRC could take him.  He is 1 year and 9 months old. His birthday is 2/1/18.  You'll have to check out his whiskers--they are super long.  Such a nice cat.

Enjoy this day.

Thursday, November 14, 2019

Fiver Friday is tomorrow.  This all day long event is simply, to help us with our Feliz Navidad Fund and to supplement our general medical fund. It stems from....if you have a Fiver and would like to donate that $5 (or more)  to help FFRC, please do!  You can pay by paypal or if you want to send a Fiver check, that is fine. Just email me though so we can add you into our figures.  An ongoing tally cat-board will be kept updated all day long. Stories will be told of present cats, Ch cats, Covies, Porchies and past cats.  Medical supplies will be shown and explained.  Some of our special FFRC books will be shared. We even have "cats" with injuries to show you--trap injuries, hit by car injuries, etc.

Anytime a cat passes away here, we want to learn.  What can we do differently?  What other technique could we do?  What can we learn?  And that is where Fiver came to be.  But, in a nutshell, Fiver was a little kitten we took in with an awful injury, hundreds of fleas, dehydrated--he was in very poor condition. He was named Fiver. And because of him, his mama and siblings were saved. His full story will be read several times tomorrow.

Feliz Navidad Fund is for our special over-and -above medical needs. Her story too, in a nutshell, is --- she arrived frozen, revived and lived a short but wonderful life. This special fund is named after her for her bravery and determination. Her story too will be read in full tomorrow.

Come join us tomorrow.  I will start breakfast in the morning a bit earlier so we can get started earlier.  And thru out the day, our cat-board with the updated tallies on it will be shown.  Each donor will have her/his name on a "chain" that will be put together to show our strength for when we work together.

We will keep track of any donations that are designated for Feliz Navidad until midnight Friday.  Because sleep will call in the evening, our grand total may not be until Saturday morning!  If you would like to get an early start, that is fine. Just use paypal or an email to let me know a check is coming!  You will be part of our chain of compassion!

We have thanks to give:

Donavon & Shannon S--donation to FFRC, for all the kitties, especially VIctor

Sunday, November 10, 2019

I'm sitting here with a little sweetie in my lap--Fio.  He had his big surgery yesterday--removal of both eyes due to disease.  I imagine he has a bit of a headache today but he's doing good.  He's napping right now which is good--healing is happening for him. He's taking his meds (antibiiotics and soreness meds) like a good boy.  We helped him with breakfast this morning early but I would think he'll be gobbling his food soon, as is his normal.

Yesterday was our surgery day.
We did 9 neuters: Soames, Timax, Fio.  Plus, we did 6 neuters for volunteers.
We did 6 spays: Gemma, Matisse, Scampi, KaKenya, Penny Lane, Lena, LuLu.

We did not do Jewel Elizabeth because she has a spay incision scar. We also cancelled Chardonnay's spay--she had a little bit of congestion--rather wait and be safe.

We also did a few physicals:
Dooey--good.  Except.......he has a problem.........known as "Let's Get Into Jacci's House"!!  Have to find this awesome cat a home!
Dune--very good
Dutchess--good
Asha--good
Marilyn--good, only a tiny "squeak" heard in regards to her heart.

We are now at 1,033 spays/neuters for 2019.  610 females and 423 males!

And then we come to our sweet girl, Dizzy. As you know, she arrived with severe stomatitis. Before she arrived, Dr. P had all of her teeth removed due to the stomatitis.  With antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, we've been able to keep her comfortable. But.......things have changed.  She now has cancer in her mouth and it's very fast growing. We were also aware this was happening and have been keeping her comfortable.  What a wonderful cat she is. I don't know what her life had been like before she was found, taken to Dr. P and then to FFRC. But, we love her and she sooooo enjoys being loved on. I feel her time with us will be short---she will be doted on.

We took on a new teenager cat yesterday.  She had actually found her way to a friend of mine. While we were full, she kept this cat and brought her to FFRC yesterday, as planned. Her name is LuLu.  She's a bold, colorful calico.  She is 7 months old with a birthday of 4,24,19. She will be up in the main area soon.  LuLu is a sweetie and will fit right in.

We have thanks to give! And I'm STILL very thankful PayPal is up and working!

This Tuesday is Trivia!
This Weds. is our Flash Sale at noon.  Lots of great items!

And this Friday is our Fiver Friday--all donations made on this day, will go towards Feliz Navidad Fund and our other medical needs.  We hope to have things all morning, afternoon and evening to show you, read to you and have fun. We'll pop on the cam often to read special stories, show you our medical supplies that we need for the cats and supplies and individual stories too of the cats and kitties!  Our cat chart is ready to show the results!

Dune has now come up to the Main Area. He can climb, trot and is making good kitty friends!

Desmond and Donell are such good friends!  We're still working on Donell, to be more accepting of us and it's working. Desmond is rubbing off on him!

We've had 4 recent adoptions!
Nocoma was adopted yesterday. She has a special mom and her son. They spotted her at the Oopen House and that was all it took!  I will miss her on my desk--she was such a great helper!

Lorha was adopted yesterday She went with a wonderful new mom and dad. This couple is who brought us wonderful vinyl stickers a couple weeks ago. And yesterday, they brought a replacement sticker for the wheel. The other one (from Goss) finally wore out.  I am very grateful for this new one! Lorha will have kitty friends in her new family.

Rosiland was adopted too yesterday! A great home with a good family.  She will be well loved (I think she was loved already by her new people!).

Brrring was adopted 11/8. He is going to be one very happy and wonderfully spoiled kitten!

Upcoming adoptions this week:  KaKenya, Gemma and Evans, Tangle, Elsie, Apple Jack and Aleesha.  I'll try and keep you informed as things happen.  And remember.......things can also change!

Take care and enjoy this beautiful Fall day!

PayPal is back!  Wow, what a hard, anxious week it's been.  PayPal went down for FFRC Sunday night. It just came back in full this morning.  We were told it was done to help make our site (and others) even more safe and secure.  Lots of questions and forms we had to complete. Yes, it's been an anxious week without it this week but I'm also glad that our FFRC PayPal is safe.  I was thrilled this morning when I heard it was back up and running!

Dune's doors have been opened from the back Thumper's Room. He's come up for a come up for a few stroll-abouts.  He seems very relaxed. Won't be long until he's romping with the other cats nd kitties.

Desmond has a friend! His name is Donell. Donell is a dark orange tiger kitten. He's a bit shy but coming around. We've been holding him a lot and Desmond's sweetness will rub off on him. They spend some of their time in the top condo in the Main Area and sometimes they are on the floor in Paddy's Place.  It's fun to see these little tiny fur balls rolling each other!  Donell was born 10/1/19 and arrived here at 5 weeks on 11/5.  He had a mama cat and siblings outside. But each time mama would bring the kittens up on a porch to eat, she would not take Donell back. So, he was on the porch for 3 days by himself.  He came in and devoured his first bowl of his special gruel/kitten mix.  When it's nap time, they cuddle up together with their Ellie, the elephant stuffed toy.

Tomorrow is our FFRC surgery day. We've changed the schedule a little bit.  The kitten that Angie L has will wait until December. Hope, too, will wait until December. She still has mucous and I sure don't want her endotrach tube to plug up. Dr. Darcy is also aware of Fio's double eye enucleation and is in full agreement.  Fio is going to feel so so much better as these painful eyes will not be a bother anymore. We know he's already blind--he does very well and keeps up with the other kittens. He says......no worries....this is a good thing!

We have thanks to give:

We'll do her microchip tomorrow.  Her new mama-to-be's name is Robin. She's a wonderful, caring person.  She has a special facebook page for her cats. If you go to facebook.com/2eyes12paws/   you will see it.  Robyn has another cat that is totally blind, like Elsie.  At her new upcoming home, Elsie already has a wheel waiting for her. Plus many of the toys here that she loves. Robin has been watching and anything that Elsie likes, is now in her new home. Robin aims to make the transition easy for Elsie.

We had a most awesome adoption on 11/6!  LJ, our new neighbor, adopted Enola.  This has been planned for a long time but LJ wanted to make sure her house was ready for Enola. We all knew that Enola had been an outside cat, ripped quite badly by a groundhog and then lived in PawMart for months and became a new favorite store cat.  Enola fell in love with LJ and told her one day it was time for LJ to have a cat....Enola!  And so, it happened.  Update on this adoption--it couldn't be any better.  Enola has taken over the bed, the fresh warm laundry, follows LJ around and generally is enjoying a new wondrous life!

We have quite a few adoptions coming up.  Things happen and change and so does our potential adoption list:  Brrring, Applejack, Gemma and Evans, Nocoma, KaKenya, Tangle, Lorha, Elsie.  Great kitties and cats going into new wonderful homes!

It's a brrrrr-y cold day today.  This week, all heat lamps were double checked--some readjusted.  A heat strip will go on one of the water faucets outside.  Blankies and beds are plentiful. Electric water bowls are not out quite yet but will be soon.

Stay warm, enjoy your weekend.  We will keep you posted about the surgeries tomorrow!

Tuesday, November 5, 2019

Two great days are behind us now--and both were important to FFRC!

First, we had our Open House on Sunday---it was awesome, amazing and just very wonderful! Lots of people attended--sometimes it seemed we were wall to wall with visitors--just made me smile!  Everyone was able to visit all the rooms, including where we do our FFRC surgeries at.  Plus, the outside cats received a lot of pets and nice words!  The cake was delicious, lots of people enjoyed PawMart and many donations were put inside the trunk and back seat of the cat-car! The weather was perfect--a nice Fall day.

I was so so proud of the cats and kittens here. They were so well behaved and soaked up all the attention! They were exhausted that night and slept good!  We also have some of the kittens being looked at for having possible new homes--AppleJack, Chips, Matisse, Timax, Gemma, Nocoma, Tangle and Lorha. Will know more soon.

And then we had our HumaneOhio yesterday.  We sent up 48 cats. That broke down to 34 females and 14 males. We have now done 1017 cats for 2019, so far! Last year at this time, we were at 925. Our goal is still for 1200 for 2019.  We have 5 more surgery slots left for this year.

Remember Sparkey and Friskey?  They are two cats adopted from FFRC.  They are so loved by their family. Sparkey loves to change the bed--he pulls on the sheets like he is helping. Friskey was helping his mom change the clocks this past weekend. It's so wonderful to hear how our kittens and cats are doing!

We have thanks to give:
William M--donation for FFRC
Shannan W--donation to FFRC

Harm B--donation to FFRC
Renee C--donation to FFRC, use where needed

****And now.......PayPal.  Yes, we are temporarily, momentarily, tenttively not connected to PayPal.  They are doing a safety check.  I believe all the required paperwork they have asked of FFRC are complete now. So, we are hoping to have PayPal re-connected today.  Just be patient!  It's being worked on!

Today is Trivia night at 4:00 (FFRC time) on the FFRC's cam chat (Youtube)!  Come join the fun. The mods have a Noodle theme trivia going on that is dedicated to our fun SonJa (another mod)!  Don't know what Trivia night is?  Then, come and see!  Questions by the mods with a theme in mind. Chatters get to answer!  It's a great way to get to know one another better too.

FFRC is hosting a Pampered Chef online party. To receive an invite to this party, simply facebook pm Angie Koppenhofer-Lorenz).  All free products that are earned will be used in a Catathon basket in 2020. Pampered Chef makes great gifts for those hard to buy for people. All orders must be placed by November 10th at midnight.  Think Christmas too!

Dickens has arrived!  He's the sweet, loving, playful kitten with mild CH that Billypogo and Bonnie have been fostering. He's still doing his quarantine time in the back Thumper's Room but it won't be long until he's up in the Main Area. His new name is Dune (like a sand dune, because he's beige)!  Dune loves to play ball--several at a time even.

The S litter of kittens are doing great. They are now up and about and everywhere in the Main Area. They have made many kitty friends!

KaKenya and Dutchess are doing good.  You've heard about KaKenya.  Her new friend is Dutchess. She is a 3 year old, dark gray and white cat. She arrived with an ear tip and already spayed. She was found in a yard and brought here. We were hoping someone would call about her, but hasn't happened. Dutchess and KaKenya are enjoying the front Thumper's Room and the Welcome Room for now. Soon, we are hoping, they will join everyone in the Main Area.  Dutchess was born 10/17/16 and she arrived on 11/1/19. Her name is from the Name a Cat name list.

Desmond--our most frequent words are.......where is he now?!  Yes, he takes his nappies in his top 2 condos but when the rescue center is quiet, he gets to get down on the floor and join the other kitties.  He's just a bit over 1 lb now.  In his mind, he is a big tiger. This morning he actually made it up on the wheel and was making it move! And he has the most precious eyes--all innocent!

November 9, Saturday, is our next FFRC surgery date.  Right now, we have 3 FFRC boys scheduled. They are: Soames, Timax and Fio. We also have 6 other public male cats scheduled.
Plus, we have 10 FFRC girls scheduled for their spays.
They are: Gemma, Matisse, Scampi, KaKenya, Jewel Elizabeth, Penny Lane, Chardonnay, Lena. Hope and one more that Angie L has.

Another surgery that will be done is on Fio. We have been up front with everyone about his eyes. He had a particular nasty eye infection that has caused him to be blind and his eyes to be bulgy. Plus, his eyes are not healthy. Dr. Darcy has seen his eyes and agrees completely that he needs them removed.  They are not going to improve, they are uncomfortable to Fio and he will be more adoptable without those very very sore and inflamed "eyes".  He has actually been blind now for some time. Fio is in the main area and moves about pretty well.  I'm glad he's been able to acclimate to the main area before this surgery. He has confidence and Elsie has already talked to him about this. All will be fine with Fio.

We also have a few physicals that need done: Dooey, Desmond, DUne, Dutchess, Asha, Camvie and Marilyn. Elsie also will receive a physical for travel and a microchip.

Another date coming up--it's November 15--off and on all day. Lots of "things" planned. It's a FIVER FRIDAY.  All donations will help us with our Feliz Navidad Fund!

Save Nov. 13 at noon--a great Flash Sale coming your way, by Mich and Vern!  And remember, tonight is Trivia with Noodles at 4 pm.!  Have fun.

Friday, Novembe 1, 2019

Happy November day!  This year has gone so very fast.

Many thanks for the support of our Flash Sale yesterday.  It was wonderful.  We were able to make $1,033, which is great. This will go towards our propane heating cost. What is really awesome about this is that all the items in the sale were donated! That's a huge help! And many thanks to the mods who helped during the sale and to those that helped us "advertise" it. And big thanks to those that purchased the items!  The packages are already flying out the door, to reach you.

Following the Flash Sale, we had BOXES!  The cats and kittens are always grateful to you all--whether is something specifically for their tummies, to something for a sale or to help us with general supplies, it is all appreciated.  You truly make a difference to this Rescue Center.

ResQwalk!  It's a free ap to keep track of your walks, runs or biking. These miles are added together on the ap for FFRC, if you designate Friends of Felines Rescue Center to receive your miles. ResQwalk is funded by generous corporate sponsors! Each quarter, money is proportionally distributed, depending on miles donated!  For this past quarter, we received $79.42!!  More miles means more donations!  Come join in--afterall, it's a win/win.  Good for FFRC and good for you to exercise!

Tomorrow is when DIckens arrives. He's our new in-coming mild CH kitten, beige and seems so sweet.  He will be flying with Billypogo (he and Bonnie have been fostering him).  They will fly into Indianapolis and then drive to Defiance.  Our door and heart is open and ready!

We have progression for the kittens in the back Thumper's Room.  They are now moved into Paddy's Place--Soames, Sara, Scampi, Silky (the 4 white/tiger kittens).  Fio has joined them.  Fio plays with these 4 friends.  After these kittens "anchor" this room as theirs, they will have their door open periodically.  This way, if they need a nap or a safe feeling room, they can go back into Paddys Place.

You may see a young adult cat, a grey/cream torti, up in the Main Area. Her name is Lizzie. Her mama is away on medical needs right now so we promised to care for Lizzie.  FFRC actually helped in this adoption (indirectly) in 2018.  She's a sweetie, for sure.

We also took on a new young cat. Our awesome dog warden found her and asked us to take her in.  Her name is KaKenya (a Name a cat name). She is 1 1/2 years old, born on 4/15/17.  She arrived at 5.13 and is eagerly eating!  She had fleas and a major load of roundworms and tapeworms but those issues are already being taken care of. KaKenya is a gorgeous black/white cat with some wispy fur--very pretty!

Desmond will also come up to the Main Area but will be in our double condos. As soon as his morning nap is over, we will bring him up.  This little bitty boy thinks he's actually 10 pounds instead of almost 1 pound.  He's so determined. And eats very well by himself, although he still likes his KMR slurry! His purr motor is like a diesel truck.
