I did 4 of my favorite things yesterday afternoon--all at the same time! Laid on a giant pillow with a cat, listened to my music, read a book and ate a cookie! It was wonderful. And the cat that I was visiting was Minerva.
Minerva is a cat we took in on 2/24, Monday. We originally received a call late Sunday night from a lady who did a food pick up at The Station--she said a black/white cat was at the door, injured and sick. She had already left this business, but I asked if anyway to get the cat inside for the night. When she went back, she called again and said the cat was gone now. Then Monday morning, Chief employees called and said a black/white cat that was sick and injured was there. This is about 1 block from The Station. I drove up and there were 4 wonderful employees giving her some loving and water.
She was brought back to FFRC. She has a rather long list of problems. She's an oldster, many teeth are missing, some of those left are rotted, emaciated, dehydrated, left ear had blood, right eye doesn't seem to be functioning, very dirty, major flea load, back legs extremely stiff and a severe URI.
Dr. Darcy will see her on Saturday. In the meantime, she is receiving fluids, oral protein food is being syringed to her every hour from early morning to night. She's on eye medication and antibiotics. Her body temp is being helped to stay stable.
Her name is a Name a Cat name, meaning Goddess of Wisdom. I am not even going to venture a guess on her age--oldster fits her. She's a sweet girl who can now purr, as of last night. Please keep her in your prayers and good thoughts--she is far from being out of the woods for her recovery.
We also took on another adult--a beautiful long hair torti. Her name is Gracie Goldmine (another Name a Cat name). This is another beautiful cat, neglected, left deserted in a filthy apartment, all by herself. A friend of FFRC's discovered her and took care of her for a couple days, then brought to FFRC. She has mega mats, is dirty, was very hungry and has an extremely painful back. We're not sure what could have caused this, but it hurts very much and is swollen. She's on pain meds and is being given much TLC. Dr. Darcy will look at her also on Saturday. Please keep Gracie Goldmine too in your good thoughts and prayers. She is in need too.
We've had 5 more adoptions!
2/22--Angola went to her new home! She is a teenager beautiful short hair torti.
2/22--Gee Willikers went to his new home. He is an adult, tiger/white.
2/24--Aricia and Burgundy went to their new homes, together with lots of space and inside porch area! Both adults!
2/27--Frazier was adopted today. He went to the family that adopted Ally Jo on 2/9.
The P litter is now up in the Main Area. They take naps, food and nighttime at Paddy's Place. Other than that, they are here, there and everywhere. Those tiny legs sure can run about! Two of these kittens are already on hold. The other 2 have families of interest in them.
Tuffy is doing wonderful. He's our oldster snowshoe siamese. Knowing that he hadn't been with any other cats his entire life (except for his litter), we were taking it slow with him. But.....being the wonderful cat that he is, once he came up into the Main Area, he adjusted quickly. He's not only handsome but a real sweet boy.
