Grathaciate to you all! Nope, that's not a misspelling! It's my new word to you--to help express how thankful I am to each of you for what you do for this Rescue Center.
I am........grateful, thankful and appreciative......all rolled into one! So, a big grathaciate to you!
Kitty Christmas was yesterday. Actually, that was the conclusion of many weeks ahead of that! Here's a bit of info of what went into Kitty Christmas:
FIrst box arrived 9/20/20
The heaviest box delivered was 71 pounds
There were 598 boxes (including litter that has not been delivered yet)
Total weight, including litter was 16,115lbs
Bags of adult cat food--46 bags
FIVE pallets of litter will be delivered of Dr. Elsey's Ultra litter!
Bags of kitten food--26 bags
Snackers--83 containers
Baby food--99 cases
Canned cat food--191 cases
So, you can see that we have much to be Grathaciate about!
Yesterday was a fun day of celebration of YOU--all those who made it possible. We had cat cookies. The cats had 3 specialized meat cakes. Santa came and gave the cats a big golden castle they can play in for a long time! A fresh cooked 29 lb turkey was brought for an afternoon snack (some went into the freezer). Stories were told. Volunteer and mods gave their thoughts on favorite cats and kittens. Lots of names were drawn for many give-aways! A wonderful Christmas story by CIndy G was read. Plus an FFRC version of Twas the Night Before Christmas. All these things were planned for YOUR enjoyment because we appreciate you all.
And then.......another surprise happened. FFRC will be ordering many of the medical supplies that we are in need of. Money was donated to cover these costs. What a relief to be able to have our needed medical items on the shelves.
On top of that, our rather large veterinary bill at Dr. P and Darcy's clinic is paid in full. A whopping $2791.38 was covered by generous donators. Plus, there was a $1,299.14 extra that was given for a credit at the vet clinic!
And then a bumper upper miracle happened. You folks kept right on giving. We don't have a full total on it, but over $,1600 was collected in bump ups to be added to the credit at the vet office. Grathaciate!
I would also like to say a big thanks to Bill and Angie. They gave up half of their garage for months to hold all of the packages. They gave much time to organize this event and to do all the shopping. And to plan how to squeeze out every penny of a dollar to best use. Another thanks for providing our taco supper after the event! I am very Grathaciate.
And thanks to Lynnette and Marcia. They too gave hours and hours of time to help plan this event. They both are also my sanity-keepers! Pure joy to work with them. Grathaciate.
A friend and I was talking today of how awesome our FFRCNation is. FFRC is grateful for every penny. I will always remember a little girl that came to FFRC. She dug into her pocket and held her hand out so proudly--she had 57 cents. She earned it and was giving it to FFRC---oh wow. That was one of the richest 57 cents we ever had.
We had four more adoptions!
Lewbeth--(missed putting this in last blog) was adopted 12/2. She went to a family to be the best friend of a young girl. They had met here twice and Lewbeth sure did her best to show that she was the cat that would be devoted to this girl. Very sweet.
Jersey--adopted 12/5. She went into a family with 12 year old triplets! It was so cute--she went to each of the kids for pettings. She's going to be a tripled loved kitten!
Comanche and Kaitlyn--adopted 12/6. They went together to a home with a mom and a dad that has lots love and time to give them. They also had brought some Christmas supplies for FFRC!
We had BOXES on Thursday! Many thanks to our catetary, MK!
Anonymous -- 7lbs of RC Baby Cat Food, Catnip Scratcher , 2-- 20lb Containers of Tidy Cat Litter
New Jersey Lurker -- 3 Containers(50) Churu Squeeze Ups
Tomorrow is our HumaneOhio surgery day. Hoping for another full schedule. We will still hold the check ins and check outs outside due to Covid. We will keep doing this until the weather is too cold. We are sending 5 cats up--Kazz, Kafuzzle, Glory Bee, Saben and Sparkles. FFRC will not be having an FFRC surgery date for December due to a change in schedule.
Remember Lorha? Her family sent an email. Her new name is Holly and she rules the house! She's been with them now a year. Sounds like she's a happy girl!
We have taken on 2 new kittens. They arrived the same day but not from the same litter. Glory Bee is a black tiger, female, born 10/2/20. Giblet is a grey tiger/white kitten with a white tip tail, male, born 10/23. They arrived separately but quickly have become best friends. They are in the back Thumper's Room, on the floor, shaking up the room!
