53 more days to Catathon! Wow--that's just next month now!
Lots of changes and happenings here.
Boaz--he had his FHO (femoral head ostectomy) surgery yesterday. It was a bit more involved that previously thought. But, the surgery is done, he came back last night and he's resting comfortably. Boaz is a toughie but he's laying pretty low today. He's on soreness meds and antibiotics. His sutures will come out in 12-14 days. He's to take it easy for a while. Boaz is in a double condo in back Thumper's Room.
We have 5 new kittens......known as the Sweetie litter. Their name says it all--a bunch of sweet babies. Mama will be spayed here at FFRC, thru our transport. They are 5 weeks old with a birthday of 3/25/19. They too are in the back Thumper's Room, sometimes in a double condo, sometimes on the floor to stretch their legs. Here's their names (all Name a Cat names):
Snoopurrs--female, bl/wh, black face, white neck
SuzzieQ--female, bl/wh, white whisker pad, black chin dot
Snuggzy--female, bl/wh, white up the nose, white whiskers pad
Sadie--female, brown tiger
Stetson--male, brown tiger/white
Dr. Bud McKinley is a new boy. His nickname is Bud. Bud is a big brown tiger boy. We actually had met him about 6 weeks ago--came in on a Saturday afternoon with a huge laceration that needed surgery. He was a stray that showed up to a really nice person's house. Even though not hers, she took him then to Dr. Darcy's on Monday for surgery to repair. On that Saturday, Darcy had us help him with soreness meds and antibiotics in preparation of surgery. He's had that same spot reopened two more times. It turns out that he must've been bitten by something fairly large as the bite hole went thru the scapula and was accumulating infection under the scapula. Yesterday, drains were put into the incision area and thru the scapula. He's an FFRC cat now. Dr. Darcy will look him over on Saturday and possibly remove one of the drains. He's on soreness meds and antibiotics.
Mowgli--what a rascal she is! Love her bit of sass! She had a bath this morning to rinse her legs off. She's the easiest cat to tube feed. She's maintaining and is enjoying her days.
I don't believe we actually put into the blog about the Toughie Litter! These 3 kittens arrived on 4/25. Their birthday is 4/13/19. They are so little. Their mama was killed on the road and so were brought to FFRC. Auntie Peggy is caring for them. They will come weekly just to be checked out and then come back to stay the end of this month. Their names are Name a Cat names:
Leona--female, black, no white
Picasso--male, brown tiger
Tripp--male, black with a white tummy and little white on rear toes & neck
Kayala and her Farrah kitties are doing wonderful! Plump round tummies! Just how we like them! They are in the blue pool in the back Thumper's Room.
This Saturday is our FFRC surgery day. We are light on surgeries but have many physicals.
Neuter: 1 public male
Spays: Monroe, Inga, Ruth Marie, Lucette, Muru
2 Persian nose repairs
And then there's quite a few physicals that need done: Ollie/Deano, PawPaw (recheck heart), Coralie, Vernon, Cutie, Derecho, Grace O'Malley, Zelda, Hatima (phys. for plane travel), Hensley, Lucie, Debbnie, Mitz, Mowgli and Spiker.
We also have thanks to give! We love being able to give thanks!
Ivy C--donation to FFRC
Amanda H--donation to FFRC, use where needed
Lorene B--donation for FFRC
Jones Shop--donation for FFRC
Julie B--brighten the day with some chickie money!
Padgett Tribe--donation to FFRC
We also had donations in memory of Brooke: Julie B, Dewitty, jzinFL and kittiesmom.
We received an email from a group of friends of Brooke's sister Erin. They wanted to contribute in some way. They will donate to Derecho's Fund, in Brooke's memory. This fund will be used for his monthly flea prevention, vaccines, physicals and any future medical needs. I do think Derecho would love that!
We also had an adoption yesterday. Sasekani went to her new home! I feel she's going into a home that is really going to love her. They called this morning and it sounds like her introduction into her new home has went well.
Busy times here but all is good. Adoptions coming up!
