Yeah for more spays and neuters!  Yesterday was our FFRC surgery date. We neutered 16 public male cats and 1 FFRC male cat.  We also spayed 4 FFRC female cats.  This made 21 surgeries today. Plus, 1 did one tail amputation. Add one more male neuter for our Voucher Program!  So total for 2019, we've spayed 123 females and neutered 108 males! That total is 331.

Manville had the end of his tail removed--he has about half of it left.  You might ask.....who is Manville?  He's a big black boy who is irresistible.  The Sheriff's called FFRC a couple mornings ago, asked if we could take this cat that has a crumpled ear and an injured tail. They said the cat kept going into the Manville Factory. We said yes, we'd take him. The police then delivered him to FFRC. When I went out to get him from the cruiser, he was just sitting there, like a loaf of bread, in the back seat! Carrying him in was easy--he snuggled and purred. He's a big ole sweetie!  He has had an ear hematoma in the past, probably not treated as it is indeed a crumpled up ear. But, it doesn't bother him at all and adds to his character. And now a short tail--he thinks it gives him style. Manville is his name and he's about 2 years old. We had him up in the Main Area for a while this morning, which resulted in much pacing, going door to door, window to window, some batting at the kittens.  I'm betting he was always an outside cat. We will see how he settles in. Welcome, big boy!

I had Dr. Darcy look at Mowgli's mouth.  She really wasn't sure herself what is going on with her tongue. We will continue to give her two soreness meds a day, otherwise her mouth is too sore to eat. We changed her antibiotics and will see if that helps. She's a fighter though--has already gained over a pound. She's hungry--just needs to have her soreness meds so she can comfortably eat. Little sweet Mowgli--what a dear girl she is. She loves to purr. And she loves to snuggle. We should know more in a week or two how that mouth is doing.  She's already a beauty, but just wait till all of her fur grows in--she's going to be an extra beauty girl!

I'd like to thank Dr. Darcy, Amber, Sue and Lynnette for helping with surgeries. And another thanks to Gem, EagleWatcher, Mary Braid, Pablo, Megan, Dawn E and Donnajb for helping with post-op care and helping to keep up with all the cats in the Main Area on this busy day. They are all a tremendous help and truly make a difference. And a big thanks too to Joyce D for the wonderful pizza lunch she provided for us!

Tuesday will be a special Quickie Flash Sale. We have more of Joni's tiles to show you. The topic--cats from FFRC that have passed over. These are wonderful tiles and we thank Joni for donating them to FFRC.  The Quickie Flash Sale will be at noon. There's a special surprise at the end of this Flash Sale!  Won't be long until we have one of our regular Flash Sales with Mich and Vern!  More later on that.

We have thanks to give! You are appreciated.

Many thanks for helping us to stay afloat and for an awesome beginning of Catathon 2019!

We have an update about Edwina who is now called Winnie.  "She is doing quite well.  Every time I'm in the kitchen, she sits by my feet waiting to be fed, even though she may have just eaten! Quite often there is the thunder of running feet, around the house, up the stairs, around the rooms up there--Bandit chasing Winnie, Winnie chasing Bandit. They do sleep well!"

We had a special cat adopted in 2007. Her name is Gabby. Gabby belonged to a young lady who was a volunteer of ours. She passed away at a very early age and left Gabby for FFRC to find a home. She was adopted and has been in the same home since then. She is now 12 years old. Gabby is doing very well.

We have a new cat, her new name is Lorry. She is a beautiful all slate grey girl who is 5 years old. She came from a home where the family had to leave. She is ever so nice, so sweet. She had to have two bubble baths to get cleaned--she shines now! Lorry purrs just looking at her--she sure is soaking up the attention. She will be offered to come up in the Main Area today. We like to let the cats decide when they are ready to move up.

We have Route #66 right here inside FFRC! And it's a double highway! Buck was here Thursday and Friday to put up the new catwalks. On one of the narrow long walks, he added side rails for safety. And then added a double highway--about 4 feet is all, above the Kitty Campus Room door. This gives the cats even more access from above the condos to above June's Room now. But, the big Route #66 is the double highway that crosses the middle of the Main Area--yes, clear across!  It's 2 panels wide, each 12 inches, 24 feet long! All with side rails. The cats can now zip across from above the washer area to near the Stuff Room catwalk! If you'd like to see a video of the tour, check it out at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-FUknusGFo&t=6s

Take care. Have a great Sunday! 10 more days to Spring!
