Our 2020 total now is 667 cats--398 females and 269 males.
We have another spay/neuter day this Saturday--our own FFRC day. Dr. Darcy and Amber will be here.
Right now (subject to change) we have 9 spays/neuters and one "extra" surgery---
Owen--ffrc, black, male
CDot--ffrc, orange white toes, male
Miko--ffrc, black, male
Friend's cat--check abscess, black, male
Mooi--ffrc, calico, female
Zastria--ffrc, white/black, female
Luna Grace--ffrc, tiger/white, female
Wilma--shelter cat, female
Moogy--extra surgery--remove lump on face
As always, we have a few physicals, including JJ (eyes) and Jessie.
We have taken on 3 new kittens.
Miko--black, male, found in parking lot of WalMart. He is very friendly, has earmites and tapeworms. His birthday is 4/1/20 and he is 4 months, 3 weeks old.
Owen--orange tiger, male, found at a gas station. He is super sweet, His birthday is 5/16/20, 11 weeks old.
Mooi--calico, female, found at a store. A bit shy but once she is being held, will purr and purr. Her birthday is also 5/16/20 at 11 weeks old. Her nose is black.
These 3 kittens were all found within a very close perimeter of each other. Mooi and Owen, I believe are brother/sister. They seemed to recognize each other and cuddled up and took a much needed nap together.
A huge thanks to Greg and Debbie K for putting a new logo decal on our spinning wheel for the cats. This one is much tougher and should withstand the washings and the fur that accumulates on the wheel. The cats have approved of it! We also thank Greg and Debbie for the logo stickers that were given to us.
This coming Weds. at 11:00 is a very special Warped Flash Sale--it's all items made by our Warped friend! And it's a mystery--the box is sealed and will be opened at the time of the Flash Sale. Come join the fun!
We have had 4 more adoptions!
Persius--adopted 8/3. Such a great kitten. He's going into a home with a dog that needs a friend. His new dad seems ever so kind.
Lauri--adopted 8/5. She will be an only cat, with a new mom that has lots of time to love on her.
Cassiopeia and Sky--adopted 8/5. They went to a family that has adopted from us in the past. They call these two girls their twins! A great home!
The mystery is solved. We kept finding Dollop (a Covie) OUTSIDE of her fence. We would put her in and she would be out again. So.........we watched her and found the small hole she was squeezing thru. Our Purrfect Fence is awesome but it bears checking now to make sure it stays in good condition. It's getting older. We also fixed another spot that was showing wear and tear.
Update on the chicklet babies. They are growing. First, they were in one house, then we opened the next door to give them access to another building, so they had two. But they soon started outgrowing that. They now have access to a very large outside exercise area! They come out in the morning and we put them to bed in the evening. We sure have been enjoying them.
As many of you may know, my sister Nancy passed away this past Sunday. Nancy was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago. The doctors said she possibly could squeeze 4 years out. But, Nancy is Nancy and she went 5 years. She reminded us Saturday night "I am tough"--she mouthed the words plainly to us. And that made us all smile. My sister so enjoyed talking--to family, to friends, to anyone--she was so kind to everyone. The last 5 months she could no longer talk due to the cancer, so she wrote everything. We could still continue to communicate that way. She has beautiful flowers in her front yard which she so loved. And in her back yard, she fed the birds, squirrels, ducks, geese and deer. Nancy and her kids and myself and my kids would go camping for almost entire summers together. So many good memories. My family will miss her tremendously. Her funeral service is tomorrow, Friday. Steve and I will be gone most of the day.
I want to extend a big thank you to those that made a donation to FFRC, in Nancy's memory. This means a lot to me. Nancy always would ask me about how the cats and kittens were doing. She herself loved cats and dogs too. These donations are very appreciated.
Sad news--another loss. Our dear Oliver has passed away. Oliver arrived at FFRC on 3/20/09. He was 2 years old then, making him 13 years old when he passed. He arrived here out of the blue, covered in bite wounds. We treated him, kept his physicals up, had two dentals in recent years and was so loved. It was noted that he has been "off" this past week and that he also has lost some weight. Upon bringing him up to the Main Area, it was realized that he had a fairly large mass in his abdomen. He was given food, kisses and pets and let to go to the Rainbow Bridge. He will be hugely missed.
