We have a busy week ahead. We're starting to wind up the "putting together" of the Catathon ideas. I stand back and look at all of the items that have come in and again I am full of awe of what our supporters do for this rescue center. I am grateful. 47 more days to June 24th! My tummy has butterflies just thinking of it!
Today is a big day here at FFRC. Buck, our wonderful guy that knows how to do anything in building will be here. LJ and Beth have come up with such an awesome plan. Because we use our Shelter House so much, we will have protective "walls" for wind, cold, snow, rain. These "walls" will be able to be pushed to each side of the shelter house poles when not in use and will tuck together very nicely. We will be able to completely enclose the shelter house when needed. This will help us also for check ins for surgery days, for our events and for everyday use. Many thanks to LJ and Beth. Pictures will be coming!
Tomorrow is another big day as the concrete arrives in those big wonderful cement trucks! There will be a sidewalk from the lane that goes back to the big red barn to the grey barn. When it gets a bit muddy out there, it gets really muddy in that area. The volunteers make frequent walks to the grey barn to feed those cats. This will help with those muddy feet! And for visitors too!
And then the concrete will be poured to broaden the parking lot. This is something that will help us immensely as those back ups are quite difficult. That extra 3 feet and in much of the places 8 feet, will make a huge difference. We are planning on this as being one of the goals for Catathon--to help finance this. But, because we have so much traffic on that parking lot, we decided the sooner, the better.
We have thanks to give:
David D--donation to FFRC
Renee & daughter--donation to FFRC from N. Vancouver in Canada
Melvin S JR--donation to FFRC
Hallie G--donation to FFRC
Tracy L--donation to FFRC
We had two adoptions on 5/5--the brothers JB Tennessee and Jeff Bob were adopted together! They went into a wonderful home & family, where a teenager will be their mama. She was absolutely thrilled to have these two boys. She needed to have these kittens and the kittens already love her!
I've already heard from Emma Jane, Eula and Erica's new mama. All is well and happy. The girls explored their new home and have found it to their liking! And they love their new mama. A happpy thing for all of them!
We took in a new mama cat. She has 4 kittens. Names will come soon. She is brown tiger with a round head and beautiful yellow-gold round eyes. She has 4 kittens, which were about 10 days old upon arrival. Two brown tigers (male & female) and 2 black (male & female). She had them under a bush and was still there when the owner of the home brought her and babies to us. She was a stray in that neighborhood. They arrived 5/4. The babies birthday is 4/24/18. No more bush living for her!
Dollop, our Porchie cat has become a Covie. I kept getting phone calls from a neighbor saying a black cat was trying to get into her home and had ruined more than several screens (which we will cover the cost). I didn't even know if this black cat was an FFRC cat or not. Yesterday, Steve and I walked to their house and sure enough, there was Dollop, the little (actually, big) rascal. I believe he will do well as a Covie and add a spark of fun.
I feel I need to let you know something that has caused me much sadness. My sister Nancy's husband (Larry) passed away yesterday, unexpectedly. Larry was a wonderful brother-in-law and Nancy's biggest supporter and help for her in her battle against cancer. Steve and I will be gone a bit this week but the volunteers will carry on. I also will have my mom covered for me to be gone.
You all take good care and know that this FFRCNation means a lot to me and the Rescue Center. You all make it possible for what we do here. Have a wonderful week.
