A 100,000 thank yous to you! We went over the 100,000 mark yesterday with our voting for the Rare Eagle Life contest. Wow---just absolutely awesome and your votes are much appreciated. We can continue to vote until Jan. 4th. Just think about that number---makes me smile!
This cooler weather is bringing out the silliness of the cats and kittens. They are practicing all their moves---running, jumping, leaps, rolls, bouncing and just generally having a very good time! Love watching them play! If you hear a constant trilling, that would be Todd. Everything he does is delivered with a trill, not a meow, but his way of voicing his pleasure! Like an elongated chirp! He's available for adoption and is a super sweet boy!

Alice Mary has her sutures out and she's eating! She's such a messy eater, but that's ok---she's enjoying being able to eat and breathe! What a doll she is.
Good news from the 2 visits to the vets on Weds. Livingston had his surgery/neuter and it went smoothly. He does have a couple incisions but the "job" is done and we're all happy. He's come a very long way with many treatments and worries. A long road for him but he succeeded!
And Phoebe had her lab work done! Remember a month ago her platelets were dangerously low. She's been on medication this whole time. This time, her lab work showed GOOD! All is normal and we are thrilled. She loves to play, is eating good and loves to be loved on. We will still hold on Phoebe and Alice Mary's spays for one more month.
We have updates on the 2 kittens that we have been waiting on. I'll also post their stories here as I've been asked to put this in the blog.
Eddie White: He will be arriving on 10/22, Saturday. His foster mama will be flying in to Ohio and then driving here with Eddie. We are very excited to care for him. He will have the back Thumper's Room to call his own for a while till he gets use to us. Here is the story that his foster mom wrote about him:
Eddie's Oddessy, began on a dreary cold winter day almost 11 months ago in the middle of nowhere, 2 miles from any homes, off a dirt road in Pender County NC. Nearly frozen to the ground, frightened and unable to move, Eddie was rescued by a cell tower worker who just couldnt leave him there. He spent a few weeks decompressing, destressing and gaining back his strength at the home of another Operation Topcat volunteer. Though a short term stay, it was the start of a new life for Eddie. As we would soon learn, Eddie was deaf. Not uncommon to white cats, but one more sad strike against him finding forever. So he came to our place. His stay here had no expiration, and it had no conditions. Only that he learn to love himself again. And that he has. He started out in a room with 4 little recently rescued scared kittens. He wasnt happy about those kittens, and spent most days hissing at them from inside his crate. Even for the daylight hours when the cage door was open, he refused to explore, or get to know his surroundings, or make friends with the others in that room.
It was out of necessity he was in that room. We literally had no other room at the Inn. Soon he grew to accept the kittens, and after 6 weeks in the crate, he ventured out one day all on his own. I was initially startled but then joyfull when i realized that was HIM laying in the window, facing the sea, and in my delight i approached him to pick him up. Welllll Eddie wasn't having that, and for the next 5 months, we had a nightly routine in which i would approach, he would circle and then he would enter his crate, ready to bed down with some noms, and a good nights rest. As Joy, and Hamilton and Marla and LIncoln grew, one by one, except for my Lincoln, the kittens grew and found homes of their own. Eddie and Linocoln formed a bond like no other. We knew by now that there was something terribly wrong with LInc, and were going through his medical condition,like the wind. But always by his side to comfort him in fevers, or on blah days was Eddie, they had an understanding of what Love meant, that was phenomenal. I had networked with some great rescue friends, early on, and found Eddie a conditional home with another deaf cat in Texas. A wonderful friend Thumper Zarate was going to bring Eddie when the time was right. But i couldn't bear to let him go and leave Lincoln alone and now with Lincoln gone, Eddie was alone.
It soon became clear that Eddie needed a sanctuary, where for the rest of his life, he would be accepted for who he was, not the reject that someone had dumped down that long road. So I started looking at new angles. I happened upon Friends of Feline Rescue in Defiance Ohio and joined their page. I lurked, and I stalked the cats there, read the blog, looked at the pictures, and finally one night Eddie and I discussed it was the perfect place for him. Really his perfect place is with me, but household dynamics dont make it fair for him, so we took the next best option. After many emails and a few more , Friends of Felines has accepted Eddie to live there as he is, how he wants to be, for the rest of his life. So on October 22, Eddie and I will continue the last step in his Oddessy, as we fly to Ohio and find his forever.
There are many folks to say 'thanks' to along the way, and i hope I've said that loud and clear.
Needless to say I'll miss him, I love him, and he was one nano second from a foster fail, many times over. You cant rescue and not love, and you cant love and not rescue. Its that simple, for me.
Breanna: And here is the second kitten that we've been waiting to take. Her name is Breanna and she and her foster mama will arrive October 28. Here's something really neat--her foster mama is the same person who brought Hensley to us! And so she shall visit our sweet Hensley! The following is a letter from the vet that took care of Breanna:
"Breanna came to us after being found by a dumpser. On presentation, she had multiple wounds and scrapes on her face. She also had significant facial swelling. She was mobile but moved very slowly and painfully. I suspected head trauma and began pain meds to monitor. She ate well and very slowly recovered from the facial swelling and pain responses. Her mobility slowly improved but after 4 weeks, she stopped improving. She has been ataxic (lack of muscle coordination) since the beginning.
She has had multiple episodes of stiffening her body and crying. The episodes would last for 5 seconds then she was totally normal again. The caretaker initially thought she was having seizure like episodes but we currently think the episodes were her pain responses to her path.
She had full x-rays and evaluation by a mobile vet. The x-rays were unremarkable except decreased opacity to her shoulders and pain. She still shows pain when palpated or forced extension to her front legs/shoulder.
We believe she had severe head trauma that resulted in swelling and damage to her brain similar to shaken baby syndrome. The damage is most likely permanent."
And here is more from Breanna's foster mama--
She is a very quiet and sweet kitty. She loves to cuddle and be held! She walks on her back hocks instead of just her feet. She can get around quite well on her own, just slower than a normal cat and of course she cannot jump. She does have a head wobble that comes and goes. She loves to play with toys although her depth perception is slightly off (not that she minds- she has fun!) We have two adult cats of our own so we have seen that she is great around other cats. She does startle easily at loud noises. I look forward to our visit!!
And how about an update on Marcus---our newest Covie! He is doing wonderful. Each day he is more relaxed. Today he ate snackers with his fellow-covies right beside him. And then he strolled into the Cove for his breakfast. I'm so happy that he is fitting in!
Tomorrow, Saturday is our FFRC surgery day. Our spays will be: Grishko, Janna, Kwatille, Vienna and Endure. Our neuters will be: Cairys, Ramsey, Sintel and Towner. We have physicals too: Joey, Camvi, Jones, Joyful, LucyAnn, Merri, Paddy Purr, Polly and Walter. A busy day ahead.
Monday is our HumaneOhio spay/neuter day. This one will be extra loaded as they gave us permission to increase our numbers. More on the exact number after check ins! We are thrilled, as always, to be able to get these spays/neuters done.
We've also heard from Blossom's new family. Things are going good and she is adjusting very nicely!

So glad to be back at home and to FFRC. Although our vacation was absolutely wonderful and I so loved the time with my family, it's always good to be home!
We have had 2 adoptions already this week! Zun left with his Conniw S and Hannah family! I've already seen pictures and he looks so very happy. I understand he's made himself right at home!
The other adoption was Blossom---this was a happy adoption too--going to someone we know, for her birthday surprise! I have a big feeling that Blossom will love her new home!
We just heard from the new mama of Orpha. Orpha is doing wonderful and is growing every day. Her new name is Persephone, after a greek goddness but is called Percy for short. "She is just as happy and lovable as when I first met her. One of her favorite things is playign with her peacock feathers." So happy for Percy!
I have a white puffball staring at me! That of course would be Alice Mary! I weighed her yesterday and she has gained 7 ounces since her surgery. Sure makes it easier for her to breathe! Today her sutures come out.What a love she is--she just craves attention which we gladly give.
Tomorrow is Livingston's neuter surgery. He's going to the vet's office for this procedure just in case it's more in depth of a surgery.Everything has always been more complicted with Livingston, but that's ok......we love that little rascal! Phoebe is going to tag along so she can get her repeat blood lab work done again. Hoping her platelet count is much improved. Phoebe has gained a bit of weight but she did have a tiny nose bleed on Saturday. It clotted much quicker this time though.
I checked with the foster home yesterday about Stagger Lee, Cauli and Clark Kent. They are coming along slowly in their socialization. They are quite comfortable there, still quite shy. We're going to let them stay there a while yet to see how much progression can be made in a quiet atmosphere. All are gaining weight.

We have a new Covie! His name is Marcus, he's wonderful and a gold/white cat. Marcus looks very much like PB, our Porchie. Marcus needed a new home. He came from a wonderful family that we have already taken cats from---Victor, Leonard, Jackson II. Today Marcus ventured outside into the playground area. He's a bit shy but I feel he will settle in just fine. Chicken helps! After a bit of time, if he seems like he'd be more comfortable as a Grey Barn (Barnie) cat, we can do that. That is where Jackson II and Grizzly call home too.

What? A Fun-Raiser! Yes, indeedy. This is a much needed event for FFRC. Our General Fund is sorely lacking and so we need to booster it up. To help with this, instead of an 8 item sale, it will be a TEN item sale---such a wonderful assortment!
I usually don't "burden" anyone with financial worries, but this will show the picture of why our General Fund is low. These following bills are only some of monthly items that we have to take care of.

So......this next awesome Fun-Raiser will go towards our General Fund! We have great items to show you. Soon you will see the cam video and the pictures/info on facebook! And we have some really great items too for the Consolation Prizes!
I'd also like to say a big thanks to all those that order items by going thru FFRC for Amazon orders. We just received the latest deposit of $475.20---that's all profit for FFRC---many thanks!
Joey is getting ready for his big JOvember adoption! Yesterday he enjoyed being picked up, petted by the visitors and even "hung out" when there were lots of people here! I had to tell him though not to pack his bags yet.......but, he is soooo excited!
I want to give a big gigantic thanks too to Jenny & Brent who will be adopting Joey. SonJa is here visiting and they sent a "boatload" of items for FFRC---these are a huge help to us! Some of the things are: bleach, clorox wipes, lysol cleaner, plates, k-cup coffee, HE laundry soap, laminating pouches, sponges, cable ties, volunteer snackers, 3 squeezes, etc. This helps our inventory so much!
We have more adoption interests coming in, but nothing finalized yet! We should see more kitties and cats soon going to their new homes!
Update on Eddie White. Wow--we've had several set backs on his arrival. As you know, Eddie White was to be coming this past weekend but Hurricane Matthew made a hit in the town where he was coming from. So....he is again delayed. But, his foster mama is still working on getting him here. As soon as we know, you will know! She's giving his kisses from us though!

We have a new Covie! His name is Marcus, he's wonderful and a gold/white cat. Marcus looks very much like PB, our Porchie. Marcus needed a new home. He came from a wonderful family that we have already taken cats from---Victor, Leonard, Jackson II. Today Marcus ventured outside into the playground area. He's a bit shy but I feel he will settle in just fine. Chicken helps! After a bit of time, if he seems like he'd be more comfortable as a Grey Barn (Barnie) cat, we can do that. That is where Jackson II and Grizzly call home too.

What? A Fun-Raiser! Yes, indeedy. This is a much needed event for FFRC. Our General Fund is sorely lacking and so we need to booster it up. To help with this, instead of an 8 item sale, it will be a TEN item sale---such a wonderful assortment!
I usually don't "burden" anyone with financial worries, but this will show the picture of why our General Fund is low. These following bills are only some of monthly items that we have to take care of.

Joey is getting ready for his big JOvember adoption! Yesterday he enjoyed being picked up, petted by the visitors and even "hung out" when there were lots of people here! I had to tell him though not to pack his bags yet.......but, he is soooo excited!
I want to give a big gigantic thanks too to Jenny & Brent who will be adopting Joey. SonJa is here visiting and they sent a "boatload" of items for FFRC---these are a huge help to us! Some of the things are: bleach, clorox wipes, lysol cleaner, plates, k-cup coffee, HE laundry soap, laminating pouches, sponges, cable ties, volunteer snackers, 3 squeezes, etc. This helps our inventory so much!
We have more adoption interests coming in, but nothing finalized yet! We should see more kitties and cats soon going to their new homes!
Update on Eddie White. Wow--we've had several set backs on his arrival. As you know, Eddie White was to be coming this past weekend but Hurricane Matthew made a hit in the town where he was coming from. So....he is again delayed. But, his foster mama is still working on getting him here. As soon as we know, you will know! She's giving his kisses from us though!

We have had 2 adoptions already this week! Zun left with his Conniw S and Hannah family! I've already seen pictures and he looks so very happy. I understand he's made himself right at home!
The other adoption was Blossom---this was a happy adoption too--going to someone we know, for her birthday surprise! I have a big feeling that Blossom will love her new home!
We just heard from the new mama of Orpha. Orpha is doing wonderful and is growing every day. Her new name is Persephone, after a greek goddness but is called Percy for short. "She is just as happy and lovable as when I first met her. One of her favorite things is playign with her peacock feathers." So happy for Percy!
I have a white puffball staring at me! That of course would be Alice Mary! I weighed her yesterday and she has gained 7 ounces since her surgery. Sure makes it easier for her to breathe! Today her sutures come out.What a love she is--she just craves attention which we gladly give.
Tomorrow is Livingston's neuter surgery. He's going to the vet's office for this procedure just in case it's more in depth of a surgery.Everything has always been more complicted with Livingston, but that's ok......we love that little rascal! Phoebe is going to tag along so she can get her repeat blood lab work done again. Hoping her platelet count is much improved. Phoebe has gained a bit of weight but she did have a tiny nose bleed on Saturday. It clotted much quicker this time though.
I checked with the foster home yesterday about Stagger Lee, Cauli and Clark Kent. They are coming along slowly in their socialization. They are quite comfortable there, still quite shy. We're going to let them stay there a while yet to see how much progression can be made in a quiet atmosphere. All are gaining weight.

Alice Mary--what an awesome day she had yesterday. She went to the vet's for a chest x-ray. She had lots of swollowed air in her abdoment--from her mouth gulping of air. She has pneumonia, which we already knew and have been treating. Also when she would breathe in, her little tiny nose would just shut. We've been syringe feeding her because she could not eat---makes it very hard to eat and breath at the same time. Our vet recommended opening up her nostrils and so this was done yesterday. She's sporting 8 stitches but wow---what a huge difference this has made. About 3 hours after her surgery, she was eating with gusto. And her plate was licked clean during the night. This morning she ate a good breakfast and I've even seen her play a bit. What a wonderful thing it is to be able to breath! I'm so grateful for our vet office for their help. I'm sure you'll be seeing her white fluffiness bounding around here now!

Remember, we sent 3 cats with a volunteer for loving them up! Clark Kent (who you've seen in the rescue center) and Cauli (for Cauliflower/name a cat name) and Stagger Lee (name a cat name). These 3 cats loved to hiss and run and pull back from us---not much socialization from humans at a younger age. They are getting a cram-course on TLC last week and this coming week. Stagger Lee is a kitten that volunteer Julie L found and Cauli is a kitten that volunteer Kathy R found. Plus, they have each other for playtime!
Yesterday, we had a wonderful adoption! Our sweet Orpha was adopted! Her new mama has been here several times to visit with Orpha. We've already heard back--"she is very busy happily playing with her toys, exploring her new home and sleeping on my lap. She has not stopped purring since she has gotten here." A great report!
The kittens are up and about now 24/7 in the Main Area. They are doing wonderful. There are 8 of them up. I need to update you on a "happening". Our 2 kittens, Cairys and Cairo came down with a vicious virus that took the life of Cairo. He passed so quickly from this virus. Cairys is still struggling but doing better. If there's anything that people can learn from this, it's this---if you have kittens, get those vaccinations started. These two kittens did have vaccines so they had some protection. I know it wasn't enough to save little Cairo but there's so many kittens that are in homes and outside that have no vaccines so they have little protection. Viruses are tough--they are hard, fast and can easily kill kittens. Cairo had much love in his young life and we sure weren't expecting that to happen. Keep Cairys in your prayers and good thoughts.
Important day today---need to get the last of the recipes in for the FFRC cookbook! Just go to our website fofrescue.org and click on cookbook! Can't wait to see all the recipes!
Our new cat, Asher is doing wonderful. He's here, there and everywhere---a busy boy! It's fun to see him and Mandisa playing together as they look so much alike. Towner too is doing wonderful---such a pretty boy kitten! Loves to play. Endure is doing better also--eating good and venturing out more and more. Livingston will have his neuter surgery on October 12.
We have the bestest volunteers, mods, admins, webcam friends and supporters in the world. And yes, I truly believe that. I am thankful for each of you. While we are on vacation, I have full confidence that things will go smoothly here and be peaceful. There will be no adoptions while I'm gone but we'll pick up the pace once I'm back. We will be leaving tomorrow morning very early! While gone, I will keep tech contact to a bare minimum but will check in with the mods daily and of course the volunteers.

A huge big thanks to you all for the wonderful Flash Sale yesterday. Thanks to Mich and Vern who absolutely make these sales successful and fun. Thanks to Dawnstar and Canton for putting "it out there" for you all to know about it, thanks to the mods who pass out the info and who help with the sale. And wow---all those items were donated by caring people--thanks! And then there's you.....those that purchase the items. Big thanks! It takes a huge group effort to make these so successful. It looks like our total (thanks to Mudjie keeping track) is about $1,261. This much needed help will go towards our general fund.

Do you remember Solaire? We have an update: "Solaire is still doing great, our son really loves him". I love these updates!
An update on Eddie White---he is still planning on making his way here to FFRC but after my vacation. This way, there's no worrying about him acclimating to a new place while I am gone.
Dates! Our next Transport Surgery date is October 17. Our next FFRC surgery date is October 22. Get your recipes in---the last day to enter these is September 30, which is Friday.
The youngest kittens are now spending full days in the Main Area. Maybe one more night in the back Thumper's Room, then they can stay in Main Area 24/7.
My vacation is coming up--our family is all very excited. We will be leaving about 2 am this Saturday and will be back, I believe, late Sunday. I won't be on the computer much but will check in with the mods and volunteers and Lynnette daily. I have complete 100% confidence in everyone that is helping with this week.
I understand that Trucker's having a bit of trouble with me leaving. He asked SonJa to help him with his song:

2) Chloe is going to take out a full page ad in the Crescent News, "KITTENS WANTED!!!,No questions asked!!! Deliver to Chloe at Friends of Felines Rescue Center."
3) The Deputys Cake and Purr plan to nap and forego their usual state of high alert.
4) Trucker and Vern will be spending a fun week in your house.
5) Merri Elizabeth and Hensley will be taking down the names of any vols who do not pick them up on demand, no excuses will be accepted.
6) Not sure who Derecho bribed, but 5 minutes after you leave a sign will appear on the fridge: "Mama Jacci sez Derecho needs chikens 3, I meenz 4,timz a day. Iz importent for hiz health so nos forgetin."
7) On a positive note, Pania has promised not to get stuck on the catwalk as she is pretty sure napa would call the fire department.
8) On a related note, Pania told Elsie to stay off the catwalk. Elsie replied with "pffttt, iz goes where iz goes wen iz wants."
8) Zelda intends to open all incoming boxes containing snackers, catnip, or toys. All others will be piled up on your desk.
9) Saving the scariest for last...Sevaun has yours and Steves credit cards.
Well, that's about all the info we have. Some of the kitties know how to keep a secret!

Do you remember Solaire? We have an update: "Solaire is still doing great, our son really loves him". I love these updates!
An update on Eddie White---he is still planning on making his way here to FFRC but after my vacation. This way, there's no worrying about him acclimating to a new place while I am gone.
Dates! Our next Transport Surgery date is October 17. Our next FFRC surgery date is October 22. Get your recipes in---the last day to enter these is September 30, which is Friday.
The youngest kittens are now spending full days in the Main Area. Maybe one more night in the back Thumper's Room, then they can stay in Main Area 24/7.
My vacation is coming up--our family is all very excited. We will be leaving about 2 am this Saturday and will be back, I believe, late Sunday. I won't be on the computer much but will check in with the mods and volunteers and Lynnette daily. I have complete 100% confidence in everyone that is helping with this week.
I understand that Trucker's having a bit of trouble with me leaving. He asked SonJa to help him with his song:

And the mods have sent me an email as follows:
"Lots of meowing and cabinet meetings going on about your vacation. All the kitties will miss you terribly and some will miss you but will take advantage of the situation. Below is a list of things your mods have heard (we hate being snitches, but we always tell you everything, well almost everything!)"
1) Coralie has made a deal with Tabitha, we think it involves a catnip payoff. Anyway, you know the note you have? "Coralie to get 2 snackers only" well it will have a 1 in front of the 2.
2) Chloe is going to take out a full page ad in the Crescent News, "KITTENS WANTED!!!,No questions asked!!! Deliver to Chloe at Friends of Felines Rescue Center."
3) The Deputys Cake and Purr plan to nap and forego their usual state of high alert.
4) Trucker and Vern will be spending a fun week in your house.
5) Merri Elizabeth and Hensley will be taking down the names of any vols who do not pick them up on demand, no excuses will be accepted.
6) Not sure who Derecho bribed, but 5 minutes after you leave a sign will appear on the fridge: "Mama Jacci sez Derecho needs chikens 3, I meenz 4,timz a day. Iz importent for hiz health so nos forgetin."
7) On a positive note, Pania has promised not to get stuck on the catwalk as she is pretty sure napa would call the fire department.
8) On a related note, Pania told Elsie to stay off the catwalk. Elsie replied with "pffttt, iz goes where iz goes wen iz wants."
8) Zelda intends to open all incoming boxes containing snackers, catnip, or toys. All others will be piled up on your desk.
9) Saving the scariest for last...Sevaun has yours and Steves credit cards.
Well, that's about all the info we have. Some of the kitties know how to keep a secret!

FIVE days is all, folks. Yep, you all have 5 more days to get those recipes in for our FFRC Cat Lovers Cookbook 3rd Edition. We want friends, volunteers, supporters, webcam friends---everyone to participate! Just go to our website: fofrescue.org and click on the COOKBOOK tab. Wouldn't it be neat to see your name in our book?! There's so many categories to enter recipes in. I even have a recipe in there----from someone who doesn't cook! But..hurry and get those recipes in. The first of October, the template work begins! What a great Christmas gift this would make too!
Hensley and Elsie are playing together---rough and tumble but truly both are enjoying it. It's nice to see. Dorothy is playing with toys and Polly is all over the office, investigating. Joyful too has been out to see what's going on. Coralie is in her favorite cushie behind my seat, sound asleep--3rd tier up. She asks to be lifted up almost every day to this cushie for her morning nap. Terry is now in on the Elsie/Hensley tumble!
And now......we have some thank yous to get caught up on. It's very important to me to acknowledge donators........so, here we go!

We also received 2 lg jars of catnip, package of sponges & 300+ microwave bowls from our friend Donnawankenobe who passed away. Her friend knew she had been saving these for FFRC and so sent them on their way to us.
Welcome to Asher. Asher is the tiger white boy that actually arrived last Saturday when we had surgery. FFRC had planned on taking him in. During the day it was noticed that he wasn't feeling well so Dr. Darcy took him back to her office. It turned out he just had a slight reaction to a vaccine and is now back with us. He looks alot like Mandisa, but Asher has a few spotty-dotties on him, while Mandisa is a bit more stripey. His birthday is April 14, 2016 and he's 5 months old. He has alot of energy and thoroughly enjoys playing!
The 10 kittens are up and about in the Main Area during the day for right now. They go back to Thumper's Room for night time sleeping. They are all doing great. A little eye issue yet with Cairys but all are doing much better. Lots of kitty energy there! And they love the palm trees!
Alice Mary is broadening her horizon and is exploring more. Her appetite is picking up. That cute face of hers.....she could get away with anything and we'd just smile! Phoebe is completely comfortable and super busy playing all of the time. Endure too has ventured out of her room and is slowly exploring a bit. I would love to know more of her past---she always seems to be thinking about something. But she accepts and enjoys TLC. Tuesday will be suture removal time for Endure, Vienna and Todd.
We've had a few more adoptions! Wolfman Jack and Sarge went to their New Jersey home together! That brought alot of joy having these two friends together. I heard they were exploring their home last night after their long drive home.
I've heard from Stevie, Winston and Felix. These 3 boys are doing wonderful--they are non-stop explorers in their new home. Not a fuss between them. And as you would expect, they all love their screened in porch, especially Winston!
It turns out that Orpha will be going to her new home this coming Thursday between 9-10. Orpha is such a wonderful loverbug. Towner, the new long hair black kitten is doing great. He acts like he's always been here.
Eddie White has to postpone his trip here. His volunteer/driver has the flu--no fun. Because of my vacation, he will now come after we get back. But....he is doing good and I asked his volunteer to be sure to tell him we will eventually get him here at FFRC.

Happy Fall! This summer went so fast. Kitties are still being born and will continue into the fall. Do you know of an unneutered/unspayed cat outside? Maybe you can help--no one will object to you having that surgery done! The cats sure won't---it's a tough life "out there". Grab that cat and make that vet appt---it WILL make a difference!
What a way to "work"--I have Hensley and Bonnie in my lap, Trucker curled up on the desk, Tiyanni on the other desk cushion, Asha, Orpha and Chloe are directly behind myhead on the Kuranda Tower. Love it!

Wow--awesome news! On Saturday, we had 2 super adoptions--Stevie and Felix went together to a wonderful home. I went over to check the house out and it's big, clean and perfect for CH cats. They have lots of places to roam about including a long outside attached porch. And they are experienced CH owners! Here's the new news on this---they were torn whether to adopt Felix or Winston but decided Felix needed to go with Stevie. The new dad has still had thoughts on Winston----well, the call came.......they want Winston too! This house is perfect for these three boys--lots of room to run, play and explore. And Winston will still have access to being "outside" like he does in our Bella's Place. Winston will go there today. I'm just smiling over this as we couldn't ask for a better place for these boys who are now all brothers!
We took in a new cat on Saturday late afternoon. He was brought in by an FFRC friend. He's a long hair, black and 14 weeks old. He's been hanging out at a trailer park, getting meals where he could. He came in with a good load of fleas (2/4), earmites and a bit hungry. He's a happy boy and has a terrific purr. He came up to the Main Area just this morning. His name is Towner, a Name a Cat name. His birthday is 6/11/16. He's having fun this morning just exploring all over!
If you see a flash of furry-ness, that would be Phoebe. That girl is 100% a fun-girl. She runs, leaps, flips and climbs. In other words, she is very much enjoying having all this space to play! We haven't had any further bleeding episodes at all. Next month she will have a repeat lab work and then be spayed. Next will be to find her an awesome home!
Our other new Perisan, Alice Mary is gorgeous. That face and eyes---enough to melt your heart. She's so much better--breathing much easier. She isn't real active yet but she sure loves to be held. And she does NOT want in her pen--when we put her in there to monitor her a bit, she sits right next to the pen bars, puts her arms clear thru and then crosses them---we think she's pleading to come out again......which we do as soon as we can! What a beauty!
Endure is doing wonderful. She took a couple days to rest and relax but is now up to exploring and walking about. She will make her way up to the Main Area today. Vienna's tail surgery has caused her a bit of soreness but doing better today. She's a bit shy but wow---when you hold her, she just melts. What a dearie. Todd's all better--he's back to being Todd with much energy and orniness!
Yesterday we had 12 inquiries about our Voucher Spay/Neuter program---so happy about this! We're on a mission--spay and neuter---it's truly the right way to go!

I'm so glad about this---we are almost done with the items that we wanted to accomplish from Catathon's goals! Here's what we've done so far:
Permanent electric line to the Firecat's FireHouse
Permanent heating system/furnace for The House That Jonah Built
Replacement window for Kitty Campus Room & the little window
New shed, Picnic table, freezer, Kuranda Tower
Paid off (at that time) the vet bill
Load of stones around Shelter house/stone lane
Replacement for 1 of the heavy duty wagons
New FFRC sign!
Cement slab in Bella's Place.
What we need to do yet: repair on roof by awning/sunporch, maintenance check on generator (will happen this fall).
Our new incoming boy, Eddie White will arrive on 9/25. I'm not sure of the time yet. Shelley, who is one of his rescue persons says: "Eddie is a wonderful boy, who has learned to love himself again and shows love to those around him.". He is a shorthair white cat, born 1/4/13, so he is 3 years old. He's been neutered, examined, vaccinated and treated for fleas. Welcome to our incoming boy.
