Right around the corner is Jovember---when our dear Joey boy makes his way to Canada and becomes a part of Jenny and Brent's home. This adoption will make me especially warm in the heart. Here's a cat we could barely look at when he first arrived due to fear. And now.....just look at that boy go! He's forward in wanting to be petted, he's happy, he purrs, he goes all over the rescue center. He is ready---yep---emotionally, physically and mentally, Joey is ready for the next part of his life--a forever home. I will miss him tremendously but can't help but smile at the thought of this particular adoption. Brent and Jenny will arrive on the 5th and leave on the 6th with their new boy.
And....we've had a few more adoptions!
Saul--went to his new home. I do believe that Saul picked his new mama. He will be well loved.
Kwatile--she went to the same home where Ingy went! They are now happily family together!
Towner--he is in heaven and loves his new little girl already. Sweet adoption!
Our sweet Brianna has arrived. Her foster mom and dad came from NC to bring her. They had also brought Hensley 2 years ago and was thrilled to see their boy! I do feel that Hensley recognized him---it was very sweet. Brianna is in the back Thumper's Room while she's acclimating to us. She's doing great though. She purrs and is eating good. Due to her medical problems (thought by vet to be shaken kitty syndrome) she is a bit slow in thought and movement. But....she is very aware of what she wants to do, where she wants to go and is a happy girl. She's receiving lots of holding and love. This morning we will put some of the kittens in that room to be with her so she can play with them. Eventually, she will make her way up to the Main Area.
Eddie White, Dancer, Jordaan and Dusty are all doing super! They are out and about in the Main Area. Dancer is a sweetie. Jordaan is playing with the other kittens. Dusty's wound on his face is healing. Eddie White is everywhere and exploring! Seems very comfortable.
Alice Mary seems to be in a "steady position" right now. She has sure caused me much worry but hoping each day will help her grow and get stronger. In a few days, Phoebe's sutures will be removed.
I've gotten behind in my thank yous---so sorry. YOU are very much appreciated!

You know, there is something that happens too often that really hurts. We routinely get on an average 25 calls daily to take in more cats and kittens. It's a huge amount. We try and help each of these callers by guiding them in directions that may help. And of course, if it's a mama, we tell them about our spay/neuter programs. Some of the calls we can take their kittens and cats. Many we cannot. That is why we have to spay and neuter more and more. But.....what really hurts is when someone (especially people we know) becomes angry with us for not being able to take kittens/cats in. Do you realize that if we never said no, we could literally have---well, let's figure this out. 25 calls a day probably represents a minimum of 60 cats/kittens. Times that by 30 per month is 1,800 cats. Times that by 12 months is 21,600. Is it any wonder that we cannot take them all in? My heart hurts when we have to say no, but it's impossible to keep up. I learned long ago to take what we can, help those to the best of our ability, keep spaying and neutering and say a prayer for the rest. We are but ONE rescue trying hard to do the best that we can. Just remember....if you call and we have to say no, it's not because we don't want to help. We will help you with suggestions. I had a person hang up on me last week while I was trying to find sources for her to call from her area of the state--and not without being told "choice words' first.
We have over the past few years, made a conscious decision to help some of the special needs cats. And yes, if we didn't take them in, we certainly would have room to take more of the kittens. But....this is OUR CHOICE to do this. And we enjoy it and these cats are very happy to be here and alive. Life changes all the time and that is good. This Rescue Center also changes all the time. And that is good too. Someone asked me once, if I ever regretted taking on any of these special needs cats---they require more finances, more time, more effort---the answer is a sound NO. These cats give us much joy. And that person smiled.
Well, I don't know where all of this really came from--all these words. I guess at times the hard part of rescue gets to me. I wish we could spay/neuter faster. I wish all these kittens weren't being born every minute. I wish every cat had a wonderful home. Someday........ In the meantime, we will continue to care for those that are here and try and help as many as we can. Thanks for listening.

October 2016
We went up with 2 and brought back 3. Now, how did that happen?!
We took Joey and Phoebe to the vets yesterday. The wonderful part is that Jenny and Brent drove clear down here from Canada to be with Joey during this "different" day for him---gave him much moral support. Joey had one K-9 tooth removed--ended up having 9-10 sutures in that one spot. He also had an ultrasound cleaning! He's doing great, ate a good breakfast today and is acting like nothing happened. Now, on to Jovember when he will be adopted into his Canadian home!
Phoebe also had her nose surgery---where a skin patch is removed by both nostrils---this opens up the airway so she can breathe better. Unfortunately many Persian noses are so small that when they inhale, it closes off the tissue in the nose making it hard to take a proper breath. Just like Alice Mary, we expect her to do just fine. Her sutures will come out in 10-12 days.
And then.........we brought Dancer home with us from Dr. P's office. She's a little girl that was found at a pole barn dance. Out there in the country all by herself. She cannot get enough holding and loving. She purrs just looking at her and kneads her little paws constantly, like she's dancing, hence her name. She is all black except for a little white on her neck. Her birthday is 8/2/16---12 weeks old.
You might already know---we had 2 episodes with Alice Mary where she suddenly had major respiratory issues. She actually started meowing differently and looked at us both times like she was letting us know of her troubles. Meds were immediately given and quick relief was noted. Because of her quick response to this med, it is felt that she may be an asthma cat. She is now on a treatment protocol per Dr. Darcy. She is doing fine once again and is showing good interest in eating. The good thing is she's not fully engulfing her face into the food dish now---we don't have to wipe off her forehead anymore! What a sweet little girl.
We had BOXES on Monday evening---so many thanks given to you.
Littleonemine from CA--case of Fancy Feast

LJ from ME--2 soft blankets and 123 Christmas Elf Poo Cat Toys. These are similar to Trucker Poo Toys that we had last year. If you'd like to purchase these, feel free to email me---they are $5 each and make great gifts for cat lovers!
LittleKat, Alan and Elaine--a Halloween card from LittleKat with her allowance and stamps. Right after BOXES, Elaine called me and told me that their dear LittleKat had very recently passed away. She was 18 1/2 years old. We have had such fun with LittleKat's gifts, cards and notes. She is greatly missed by Alan and Elaine. KittyKat enjoyed a very wonderful life and was so very loved. We too will miss her.
We have heard from Bradley's new mom! He has a new name too---it's Bentley! He is doing great and is making himself right at home. "He is such a joy."
Today is a Move Day! Eddie White, Jordaan. Dusty and Dancer are now in Cat's Corner Room. They have been showing interest in expanding their horizon! Yes, we've seen them peeking out the door to see what's on the other side! They look very relaxed already in this room. Won't be long until they get that door open and they can join the rest of the cats! Eddie White is doing awesome--seems like he's fit in very quickly!

We had 2 more adoptions! Love these adoptions. Ingy left first. He went to a lady that really fell for this sweetie. Her granddaughter did too. And then we had Bradley leave. His new mama is a teacher so she will have lots of "lap time" grading papers to give to Bradley!
I have talked to the volunteer that has Clark Kent, Cauli and Stagger Lee. These boys have a wonderful place---much loved for who they are. They are skittish and not comfortable being picked up or held. The official news---they are going to stay in this home! The volunteer is happy, the kittens are happy. They run, play, eat and act like how crazy kittens are suppose to! They depend on each other for confidence. I am very grateful that it's now official---they have a home and they can stay together!
Do you hear that trilling and chirping and elongated meowing? That would be Todd. I've heard lots of "cat talk" but none as fluent as Todd is! He keeps up a constant chatter. Love to hear this! He is friends with all people and all cats---such a friendly boy. Todd is still looking for his forever home. Such a happy cat!
Alice Mary must be growing up a little! She is figuring out how to eat a bit neater. She doesn't do the "face plant" in her food as much as she had been doing. I haven't had to wash her forehead off for quite a while now! She's eating good, gaining weight and is so so happy!
We have taken on 3 new cats:
Eddie White is here! Shelley, his foster mama, flew to Ohio yesterday and then drove to FFRC. He is a wonderful boy--came right out of his carrier. He seems to be relaxed and happy. While he isn't keen on being picked up, he definitely enjoys people. He's also good with other cats. We already love him and will treasure this boy. His birthday is 1/4/13. He's all white with yellowish eyes. Eddie White is deaf but as the way with deaf cats, they use their other senses to know what's going on! He is in the back room of Thumper's Room.
Jordaan! This young boy arrived 2 days ago. His name is pronounced Your-Don. He was found all by himself, crying and hungry. He sure can clean up a plate of food! Jordaan is a gold tiger, about 6 months old. His birthday is 4-8-16. As of this morning he is down on the floor in the back Thumper's Room. A very happy, sweet boy. Loves to play. His name is a Name a Cat name.
Dusty! What a very nice cat. He was found with an injury and brought to FFRC. Dusty is a long hair grey/white male, about 3 years old. His birthday is 10/2/13. He arrived with a nasty wound under his left eye that removed some of the cheek muscle. We've trimmed the fur around it, cleaned and flushed it and have him on antibiotics. It's already healing nice and filling in. A cat's ability to heal always amazes me! His name is a Name a Cat name. Dusty is another sweetie, loves attention and already neutered. He too is on the floor now in the back Thumper's Room. All 3 cats are getting along very nicely!
Tuesday is a vet-visit day. We have Joey going up for a dental and possible tooth extraction. We have also scheduled Phoebe for a "nose job"! Really--she is going in to get those nostrils opened up better, just like we did with Alice Mary. This will so much improve her ability to breath better. Breathing is good! They both should do just fine!
We have thanks to give! You are appreciated!
Eaglewatcher--donation to FFRC, in honor of Belltime's birthday, for the Felice Navidad Fund.
LostGirl---2 cases Odo-Ban
Purple, our moderator--donation to FFRC, in memory of who dad Richard who passed in Sept.
THings are on schedule in the publishing department for our 3rd Edition of the Cookbook! We'll keep you posted.
The cats are a bit nuts this morning! They run so fast that anything in their path is blown away! Phoebe is just a blur of black and white whirling by. Towner is bound and determined to chase a ball over the entire floor. Todd is everywhere. Tiyani and MJ are fast kittens---bent on outracing each other! Vienna and Sintel are rolling all over while playing with a red fuzzy ball. It's wonderful to see them all play.
A special thanks to all of our volunteers. Sometimes we have slots in our schedule where volunteers are gone. The other volunteers always step up and happily fill in those slots. They are amazing people---such awesome caretakers of FFRC.
Please remember to vote---we are at 105,819!
Treasure your pet! Life can be so short and we can lose them way before we are ready. If we could all love freely and deeply, forgive easily, treasure each day, show compassion willingly and pet lots of cats--this world would be much more at peace.

October 20, 2016 Thursday
Camvie says to check her out---she is setting sail! She's napping right now in the Caribbean Ship! The cats sure do love these ships!
$13,000---wow, wow and another wow! That is our total from our Fall Fun-Raiser. If I could personally visit each and every one of you to give you a direct big thanks, I would! My heart is full of gratitude. This Fun-Raiser was a good kicker-upper to help us with our General Fund needs. Yesterday Steve and I totaled the bills that need payment this week---came to just a bit over $6,000. So.....guess what Steve will be doing today---paying bills! What a good feeling.
Here's the breakdown:
Item A, Pet Shop Diesel Train, sold 31 tickets--$155, won by Kimkost
Item B, Jacobs Ladder Afghan, sold 77 tickets--$385, won by Billie K
Item C, Peace Pole, sold 97 tickets--$485, won by Kerswill
Item D, 2 Kindles, sold 242 tickets--$1,210, won by VRS and Barb Wil
Item E, Artsies, sold 100 tickets--$500, won by Faithy
Item F, 4 Halloween table toppers, sold 77 tickets--$385, won by Belltime, Pam Ste & 2 for vols
Item G, Summer Fun Afghan, sold 101 tickets--$505, won by Zoolove
Item H, Warpedeedoo, sold 150 tickets--$750, won by Ferole
Item I, iPhone, sold 171 tickets--$855, won by Straycatlady
Item J, Corn Salsa/Jams, sold 218 tickets--$1090, won by Andrea
This makes a total of $6320!! Then we get to do some adding! FFRC has an anonymous angel who had said she would match any funds that were for 10 tickets or more. With a little extra added, she put in $6,000!! Unbelievable and so much appreciated. We then had a couple bump ups that came to $680. So........better sit down for this.....our Grand Total was $13,000.
I have to say I slept very sound knowing that FFRC was cared for once again. The compassion that you all have "out there" is astounding. If someone would've told me about this day many years ago when we first started FFRC, I think I would've had many doubts that these things could actually happen. But.....they do, with our great FFRCNation. I am beholden to you all.
We then had consolation prizes that went to: Marcia Sch, Jacksmom, Conii, Lurkerbea, Quincysmom, LJ, Mykatkat, Ronald Rob and the Z's (yes, my Z's were given a gift of a ticket and they won a blanket!)
We also had BOXES last night! What a evening full of wonderful things!

Nona--4 cases baby meat jars
Zoolove--vol treats: rice krispie treats, Crunch n Munch, cookies, pringles and crackers and 3 cat shirts for J!

Many of you know that Camvie wasn't feeling very good a few days ago. She's back to normal, sitting on the counter and chewing our ankles (she loves that!). Alice Mary was weighed yesterday and she has gained another ounce! Saul is here sitting on my desk, playing with the mouse arrow---he's new at this and he's now another desk cat!
We have been preparing for winter out on the farmyard. The winter's hay and straw arrived yesterday as did the grain/feed for the horses, chickens, peacocks, ducks, turkeys, geese to get us thru the winter months when the yard is mushy. We have also gone thru the Covie Haven, Grey Barn ,Porchie Haven, FireHouse and the big red barn and have all the heat lamps in place for winter use. We have the electric water bowls cleaned and waiting for cold weather. Right now we are enjoying a rather warm fall.
Terry and Asher are climbing up and down the hemp pole here in the office--they are so fast at it! Dorothy and Bonnie are playing with a feather toy together. Bertha is making the orange wheel in the Kabana spin. Grishko is here beside me looking so fluffy and pretty!
Endure is doing better each day. Her severe congestion that she arrived here with is slowly but surely going away. Towner is climbing 2 of the sets of kuranda towers---back and forth like a monkey. He's such a great kitten! Love his fluffy tail. Chloe is here sitting watching some of the kittens playing. She'll probably join in on the fun.
Joey will be going to the vets office on Tuesday for a dental. He has one tooth that may need extracted and a bit of tartar to remove. We want his teeth to be spic and span for his upcoming adoption! Eddie White and Breanna are still on schedule to arrive here over the next two weekends.
Take care, know that you all are appreciated! If you ever get to this part of Ohio, we'd love to have you visit!

There's been a lot of spaying and neutering going on around here! That's how we like it. I saw a great picture and saying the other day. Do you know how YOU can save 100 lives? The answer is simple---by spaying a single female! Yes, you can easily become a big part of helping with the cat overpopulation problem.
Saturday we had our FFRC spay/neuter day and did 4 females and 5 males. The girls were: Janna, Kwatille, Saseka and Vienna. The boys were Cairys, Ramsey, Sintel, Towner and a stray that a volunteer found. We cancelled two spays--Phoebe and Endure. We want Phoebe's nasal cavities to become clearer before an anesethic. And Endure too needs more "get healthy" time.
A special thanks to Joyce D for providing pizza for us hungry people on Saturday's surgery day. And also to Gusti for providing drinks! Pablo also brought in some pies! We were a contented group of workers! I'd like to say thanks too to the volunteers that come in to do post-op care. It's such a comfort to me to know that the kittens/cats are being held and carefully watched while they are waking up.
We also did physicals on Saturday. Joey had a thorough physical and nails trimmed. He's getting extra spruced up for his upcoming adoption! Camvi, Jones, Sea Turtle, Tabitha, Joyful, Lucy Ann, Merri, Polly and Walter. All are great. Sea Turtle appears to be healthier than last time! A good day.
Today, Monday, we are doing our HumaneOhio Transport. We sent up 18 females/12 males plus 2 dogs (1 male/1 female). They will be arriving back to FFRC somewhere around 5:30-6:00.
Here is our newest total! We have now done 455 spays/neuters. That would be 266 females, 188 males and 4 dogs! Keep 'em coming---we want to do more! We were asked by HumaneOhio is they thought we could keep these numbers during the winter. My response was that I believe so. Other than the 1st two months doing transports for HumaneOhio, we have not had to put any ads in the paper. So.....if we need to pop in another ad or two, we can. Right now, our November Transport is already full and December is getting there.

Friday, October 14
Pull up a chair, grab a drink and snack and put your feet up---this is a bit of a long blog!
A 100,000 thank yous to you! We went over the 100,000 mark yesterday with our voting for the Rare Eagle Life contest. Wow---just absolutely awesome and your votes are much appreciated. We can continue to vote until Jan. 4th. Just think about that number---makes me smile!
This cooler weather is bringing out the silliness of the cats and kittens. They are practicing all their moves---running, jumping, leaps, rolls, bouncing and just generally having a very good time! Love watching them play! If you hear a constant trilling, that would be Todd. Everything he does is delivered with a trill, not a meow, but his way of voicing his pleasure! Like an elongated chirp! He's available for adoption and is a super sweet boy!
We have much to be grateful for---had BOXES on Weds. evening!

Tomorrow starts our next Fun-Raiser! We are so excited about it. Instead of the usual 8 items, we have 10 items---such a difference of "style" in the items! Check out your facebook for updates and the cam for a video. And here's a bonus---anyone who wants 10 tickets ($50) or more will have their funds doubled by the generous heart of an Anonymous Friend!

Alice Mary has her sutures out and she's eating! She's such a messy eater, but that's ok---she's enjoying being able to eat and breathe! What a doll she is.
Good news from the 2 visits to the vets on Weds. Livingston had his surgery/neuter and it went smoothly. He does have a couple incisions but the "job" is done and we're all happy. He's come a very long way with many treatments and worries. A long road for him but he succeeded!
And Phoebe had her lab work done! Remember a month ago her platelets were dangerously low. She's been on medication this whole time. This time, her lab work showed GOOD! All is normal and we are thrilled. She loves to play, is eating good and loves to be loved on. We will still hold on Phoebe and Alice Mary's spays for one more month.
We have updates on the 2 kittens that we have been waiting on. I'll also post their stories here as I've been asked to put this in the blog.
Eddie White: He will be arriving on 10/22, Saturday. His foster mama will be flying in to Ohio and then driving here with Eddie. We are very excited to care for him. He will have the back Thumper's Room to call his own for a while till he gets use to us. Here is the story that his foster mom wrote about him:
Eddie's Oddessy, began on a dreary cold winter day almost 11 months ago in the middle of nowhere, 2 miles from any homes, off a dirt road in Pender County NC. Nearly frozen to the ground, frightened and unable to move, Eddie was rescued by a cell tower worker who just couldnt leave him there. He spent a few weeks decompressing, destressing and gaining back his strength at the home of another Operation Topcat volunteer. Though a short term stay, it was the start of a new life for Eddie. As we would soon learn, Eddie was deaf. Not uncommon to white cats, but one more sad strike against him finding forever. So he came to our place. His stay here had no expiration, and it had no conditions. Only that he learn to love himself again. And that he has. He started out in a room with 4 little recently rescued scared kittens. He wasnt happy about those kittens, and spent most days hissing at them from inside his crate. Even for the daylight hours when the cage door was open, he refused to explore, or get to know his surroundings, or make friends with the others in that room.
It was out of necessity he was in that room. We literally had no other room at the Inn. Soon he grew to accept the kittens, and after 6 weeks in the crate, he ventured out one day all on his own. I was initially startled but then joyfull when i realized that was HIM laying in the window, facing the sea, and in my delight i approached him to pick him up. Welllll Eddie wasn't having that, and for the next 5 months, we had a nightly routine in which i would approach, he would circle and then he would enter his crate, ready to bed down with some noms, and a good nights rest. As Joy, and Hamilton and Marla and LIncoln grew, one by one, except for my Lincoln, the kittens grew and found homes of their own. Eddie and Linocoln formed a bond like no other. We knew by now that there was something terribly wrong with LInc, and were going through his medical condition, like the wind. But always by his side to comfort him in fevers, or on blah days was Eddie, they had an understanding of what Love meant, that was phenomenal. I had networked with some great rescue friends, early on, and found Eddie a conditional home with another deaf cat in Texas. A wonderful friend Thumper Zarate was going to bring Eddie when the time was right. But i couldn't bear to let him go and leave Lincoln alone and now with Lincoln gone, Eddie was alone.
It soon became clear that Eddie needed a sanctuary, where for the rest of his life, he would be accepted for who he was, not the reject that someone had dumped down that long road. So I started looking at new angles. I happened upon Friends of Feline Rescue in Defiance Ohio and joined their page. I lurked, and I stalked the cats there, read the blog, looked at the pictures, and finally one night Eddie and I discussed it was the perfect place for him. Really his perfect place is with me, but household dynamics dont make it fair for him, so we took the next best option. After many emails and a few more , Friends of Felines has accepted Eddie to live there as he is, how he wants to be, for the rest of his life. So on October 22, Eddie and I will continue the last step in his Oddessy, as we fly to Ohio and find his forever.
There are many folks to say 'thanks' to along the way, and i hope I've said that loud and clear.
Needless to say I'll miss him, I love him, and he was one nano second from a foster fail, many times over. You cant rescue and not love, and you cant love and not rescue. Its that simple, for me.
Breanna: And here is the second kitten that we've been waiting to take. Her name is Breanna and she and her foster mama will arrive October 28. Here's something really neat--her foster mama is the same person who brought Hensley to us! And so she shall visit our sweet Hensley! The following is a letter from the vet that took care of Breanna:
"Breanna came to us after being found by a dumpser. On presentation, she had multiple wounds and scrapes on her face. She also had significant facial swelling. She was mobile but moved very slowly and painfully. I suspected head trauma and began pain meds to monitor. She ate well and very slowly recovered from the facial swelling and pain responses. Her mobility slowly improved but after 4 weeks, she stopped improving. She has been ataxic (lack of muscle coordination) since the beginning.
She has had multiple episodes of stiffening her body and crying. The episodes would last for 5 seconds then she was totally normal again. The caretaker initially thought she was having seizure like episodes but we currently think the episodes were her pain responses to her path.
She had full x-rays and evaluation by a mobile vet. The x-rays were unremarkable except decreased opacity to her shoulders and pain. She still shows pain when palpated or forced extension to her front legs/shoulder.
We believe she had severe head trauma that resulted in swelling and damage to her brain similar to shaken baby syndrome. The damage is most likely permanent."
And here is more from Breanna's foster mama--
She is a very quiet and sweet kitty. She loves to cuddle and be held! She walks on her back hocks instead of just her feet. She can get around quite well on her own, just slower than a normal cat and of course she cannot jump. She does have a head wobble that comes and goes. She loves to play with toys although her depth perception is slightly off (not that she minds- she has fun!) We have two adult cats of our own so we have seen that she is great around other cats. She does startle easily at loud noises. I look forward to our visit!!
And how about an update on Marcus---our newest Covie! He is doing wonderful. Each day he is more relaxed. Today he ate snackers with his fellow-covies right beside him. And then he strolled into the Cove for his breakfast. I'm so happy that he is fitting in!
Tomorrow, Saturday is our FFRC surgery day. Our spays will be: Grishko, Janna, Kwatille, Vienna and Endure. Our neuters will be: Cairys, Ramsey, Sintel and Towner. We have physicals too: Joey, Camvi, Jones, Joyful, LucyAnn, Merri, Paddy Purr, Polly and Walter. A busy day ahead.
Monday is our HumaneOhio spay/neuter day. This one will be extra loaded as they gave us permission to increase our numbers. More on the exact number after check ins! We are thrilled, as always, to be able to get these spays/neuters done.
We've also heard from Blossom's new family. Things are going good and she is adjusting very nicely!
You all have a wonderful day!

Tuesday, October 11
So glad to be back at home and to FFRC. Although our vacation was absolutely wonderful and I so loved the time with my family, it's always good to be home!
We have had 2 adoptions already this week! Zun left with his Conniw S and Hannah family! I've already seen pictures and he looks so very happy. I understand he's made himself right at home!
The other adoption was Blossom---this was a happy adoption too--going to someone we know, for her birthday surprise! I have a big feeling that Blossom will love her new home!
We just heard from the new mama of Orpha. Orpha is doing wonderful and is growing every day. Her new name is Persephone, after a greek goddness but is called Percy for short. "She is just as happy and lovable as when I first met her. One of her favorite things is playign with her peacock feathers." So happy for Percy!
I have a white puffball staring at me! That of course would be Alice Mary! I weighed her yesterday and she has gained 7 ounces since her surgery. Sure makes it easier for her to breathe! Today her sutures come out. What a love she is--she just craves attention which we gladly give.
Tomorrow is Livingston's neuter surgery. He's going to the vet's office for this procedure just in case it's more in depth of a surgery.Everything has always been more complicted with Livingston, but that's ok......we love that little rascal! Phoebe is going to tag along so she can get her repeat blood lab work done again. Hoping her platelet count is much improved. Phoebe has gained a bit of weight but she did have a tiny nose bleed on Saturday. It clotted much quicker this time though.
I checked with the foster home yesterday about Stagger Lee, Cauli and Clark Kent. They are coming along slowly in their socialization. They are quite comfortable there, still quite shy. We're going to let them stay there a while yet to see how much progression can be made in a quiet atmosphere. All are gaining weight.
We have so many thanks to give---please know that our appreciation is very much!

We have a new Covie! His name is Marcus, he's wonderful and a gold/white cat. Marcus looks very much like PB, our Porchie. Marcus needed a new home. He came from a wonderful family that we have already taken cats from---Victor, Leonard, Jackson II. Today Marcus ventured outside into the playground area. He's a bit shy but I feel he will settle in just fine. Chicken helps! After a bit of time, if he seems like he'd be more comfortable as a Grey Barn (Barnie) cat, we can do that. That is where Jackson II and Grizzly call home too.

12th--vet visit for Livingston & Phoebe
15th--FFRC spay/neuter day
17th--Transport surgery day with HumaneOhio
15,16,17,18,19---fun-raiser!
What? A Fun-Raiser! Yes, indeedy. This is a much needed event for FFRC. Our General Fund is sorely lacking and so we need to booster it up. To help with this, instead of an 8 item sale, it will be a TEN item sale---such a wonderful assortment!
I usually don't "burden" anyone with financial worries, but this will show the picture of why our General Fund is low. These following bills are only some of monthly items that we have to take care of.
Paws & Remember (creamatory) $95
Phone bill $154.24
Verizon $95.00
Wages $8,300
Insurance $418.84
Electric $560.56 (will soon be well over $1,000 a month)
Med company $3,300
Surgical needs (not at our vets or Humane Ohio) $1200
Workman's Comp $132
Taxes $350
Repairs $120
On top of this, we have many "little things" and other utilities that have to be cared for--these add up over a month. I am deeply grateful that so many of you help us with food and litter--helps us tremendously.
So......this next awesome Fun-Raiser will go towards our General Fund! We have great items to show you. Soon you will see the cam video and the pictures/info on facebook! And we have some really great items too for the Consolation Prizes!
I'd also like to say a big thanks to all those that order items by going thru FFRC for Amazon orders. We just received the latest deposit of $475.20---that's all profit for FFRC---many thanks!
Joey is getting ready for his big JOvember adoption! Yesterday he enjoyed being picked up, petted by the visitors and even "hung out" when there were lots of people here! I had to tell him though not to pack his bags yet.......but, he is soooo excited!
I want to give a big gigantic thanks too to Jenny & Brent who will be adopting Joey. SonJa is here visiting and they sent a "boatload" of items for FFRC---these are a huge help to us! Some of the things are: bleach, clorox wipes, lysol cleaner, plates, k-cup coffee, HE laundry soap, laminating pouches, sponges, cable ties, volunteer snackers, 3 squeezes, etc. This helps our inventory so much!
We have more adoption interests coming in, but nothing finalized yet! We should see more kitties and cats soon going to their new homes!
Update on Eddie White. Wow--we've had several set backs on his arrival. As you know, Eddie White was to be coming this past weekend but Hurricane Matthew made a hit in the town where he was coming from. So....he is again delayed. But, his foster mama is still working on getting him here. As soon as we know, you will know! She's giving his kisses from us though!
98,360---that's our total votes at the moment for Eagle Rare Life! I'm thrilled and am very grateful to you all for these votes. Remember.....you can vote daily at: eaglerarelife.com/content/jacci-moss-0 Every vote helps and is important!
These are going along smoothly for the 3rd FFRC cookbook! I think you will so enjoy it!
Have a happy day to everyone! The sun is shining, there's good things "out there" for all of us!
