Busy day of treatments yesterday. Have that caught up, but then there's always more! I think the kittens and cats must look at the treatment board every morning and check the names out. Then those cats disappear! 

Carol, Trucker, Veora and Murphy are now spending a bit of time here in the Main Area. They have just joined the kitty herd  and are having fun. Trucker prefers to be held though. Such a sweetie he is. We still keep placing him in the litterbox to help him out.  I truly feel this is a birth deformity for this little boy, as he is showing other "kinks" in the system. His one front leg is thickened and his vertebrae and ribs are "flattish". But, to Trucker, this is normal and so he carries on. I just want him to enjoy every moment of every day and to play, purr and play some more!

We had a visitor yesterday--a sweet 9 year old girl. She came in and presented us with a donation. Her name is Rebecca. 

We also had another visitor. Her name is Kaylee and came with her family. They also brought some great items from our Need List! We've had the pleasure of knowing Kaylee for a few years--always a joy to have her visit us.

FFRC Adoptable Kittys July 2014

Many Happy Birthdays to Jonah, Olaf, SoyBoy, Timothy and Zelda. A big birthday date today! Lots of extra snackers to be handed out!

Jonah is our oldster of the Covies. He is now 15 years old. Hard to believe as he was only 6 weeks old when he arrived.

SoyBoy is now 7 also. He was found in a soybean field when he was 1 year old. He's also a Covie.

Olaf arrived when he was 1 year old and is now 8 years old. He is a Porchie.

Zelda (the prettiest of them all!) is now 4 years old. She arrived when she was just 1 and I am the very lucky person who has adopted this girl! She remains though in the Rescue Center (since that's where I'm at most of the time!). No more hiding Zelda in the dog's room!

I'm sure many of you have been hearing a slight background music playing here at FFRC--it's very pretty music and is on to act as a background buffer. Unfortunately we have been having a bit of trouble with people overhearing things and then telling other people information. The workers here and visitors are having a problem keeping private conversations private due to the wearing of earbuds. I know for me, it's impossible, to go in the far back rooms or outside for private information about cats and kittens. I always very much lower my voice, but to remove myself from the building is impossible. So......I am putting out a plea---if you are wearing earbuds and hear information that has not been told by me on the cam or in the blog, please keep that information to yourself. It's not ok to repeat what you've heard. Let's not dwell on this. Let's carry on and just respect the privacy that we need here.

We took in a new little Siamese kitten--she's a Snowshoe Siamese.. Poor little sweetie was a very buggy girl on arrival. She had both ears full of earmites. Those have been cleaned and cleaned and medicated. She also had a bellyload of worms--good wormer will help with this. She also had fleas---Capstar to the rescue! But the lice--oh, the thought of over 1,000 louse bugs on a kitten is just so sad. They are all dead now, but has left her with pretty patchy, mothy fur. All parasites are gone. Now, the healing can begin. Good food to fill that little tummy and time to grow the fur in. What a very very pretty girl. Oh! She also came with one more thing---a great big purr! She's already a snugglekitty! Her name is Takara.

We have another new cat also. She is white/grey tiger, just a very young adult--11 months old. She arrived with no body weight at all---pelvis bones protruding. But a big belly---a very big belly. Yes, she is pregnant. She slept and slept and slept the first couple days, in between eating everything in sight. Her name is Penelope (another Name a Cat). Very difficult to take a guess as to how far along she is since everything about her is bony. Hopefully she will have some time to gain some weight before the little ones arrive.

The Raffle is on! It started yesterday. You can get information on the facebook Chatters and FFRCNation and our Twitter page. We have 6 items up for raffle. Tickets can be bought thru PayPal for $5 each. You can purchase as many as you want for whatever items you may want! Boxes will be Thursday at 5:30 and the Raffle Drawing will be 6:00. We're excited. These Raffles are what helps us keep our heads above water. Plain and simple---they help pay our bills. I thank you for your support. And I also wish you good luck!

It really happened! Coralie shared her supper with 3 kittens--all at the same time! Isn't that just wonderful?! I took Coralie outside for a walk-about. She walked all over the place--over cement, grass and stones! Really enjoyed the sunshine! We rarely get to do that but Coralie and Bella are allowed. Bella of course loves her stroller rides too! But not Coralie--she wants to do it herself!

We had BOXES Friday night. Big time thanks for what you all do for this Rescue Center. Not only are your gifts so appreciated, but the moral support, prayers, good thoughts and words of encouragement are also appreciated.

Our 4-some batch of kittens are doing good. They are Carol, Veora, Trucker and Murphy. You'd think they were born in the same litter--they all play, eat and snuggle together! Trucker succeeded! He made it into the little litterbox yesterday all by himself.  Barb, our visitor, has faithfully been putting him in the litterbox about every 1 1/2 hours to help him practice! We'will keep at it! 

Sadie, our newer CH cat loves to eat. She gets so very excited when she sees her plate coming to her! She likes the freedom of the back Thumper's Room. She likes her chin being scratched. Milo, another newer CH cat, is doing awesome. He's so friendly. Loves to be held. Short periods of holding works for him. He loves the palm tree. Milo is another ankle wrapper, like Freemont.

One of the nicest kittens ever is Corby. He obviously had been loved on somewhere in his young life. He has a diesel purr motor and paws that knead and knead! Such a loverbug. He's been neutered now and is ready to find his own home. He has a ton of love to give.

Sound familiar to anyone? We have Basket 138 More Kids Fun that is unaccounted for. We are not able to figure out the name on this Basket from the Catathon. If you were the winning bidder, could you please contact me? Thank you.

Tomorrow is our first Raffle since quite a while before the Catathon! We're ready for it! Check out Chatters FB page! Raffle tickets are $5.  You can do one ticket or how many you want. The Raffle starts tomorrow, Monday and ends at 2:00 on Thursday. BOXES will be at 5:30 on Thursday with the Raffle Drawing at 6:00.  Of course, we will have consolation prizes. Let the fun begin! Who is one of the orniest kittens here? That would be Hillsborough  He is such a lot of fun. He will play with anything--even a tiny piece of dust! Jackson is visible all the time now and will come walking up to us now for attention. He's right now playing with a milk ring--walking around with it in his mouth, dropping it, retrieving it and doing it all over again! His brother August has also progressed so much in his friendliness. And Joey.....what a sweetie he is. He's decided that we're A-ok people and have allowed us into his circle. As long as you approach slowly, he will accept petting. He loves his tummy rubbed now! He's amazing!

No limping for Unna or Luige! They both have lost their limp and run like the wind. Such a joy to see them. They'll even throw each other down in wrestling play now! Little Veora's neck area where she was bitten by a dog is now much better. The swelling has decreased dramatically and she can eat easily now.

I've had two phone calls now from Yvonne and BrandyWine.  All is well. I do believe things are going to work out beautifully! The second call told me that they were both napping on the couch together--not snugged up, but on the same couch! And the bird feeders are a big source of joy for them both!

Hooray for Seymour!  He has a home. A REAL home! Seymour and his mama Patricia arrived here 1/17/14. Patricia was adopted by Rita from Wisconsin. Ever since then she has asked a couple times about Seymour--how he is, etc. Recently, Rita came to FFRC for another visit. Much time was spent with Seymour. After she went home, an email arrived, asking about him and the possibility of adopting him. Yes, Seymour has been considered a permanent resident. The reason? FFRC promised BENCH, the rescue he came from. I contacted them and explained the situation (Rita is an awesome cat mama, Seymour could be with his real cat mama, they would be well cared for and loved. Also, if ever a time Rita couldn't care for them, both would be returned to FFRC). Their blessings for this adoption was immediately given, with no hesitation! So.......happy news for Seymour! He will be leaving with Rita (who will come for Catstock) on 9/7 in the morning. 

We had three adoptions yesterday! In the morning, wonderful Chalet was able to go back to her home! Her mama came home from the nursing home and is now able to care for her again! It's known that if the time comes that she can no longer care for Chalet, she will come back to FFRC. In the late afternoon yesterday, we had two more adoptions! Little Postal, now known as Megan, went to her new home. And Willow, a baby born here to Smallisha, also went to her new home. These are happy places for these cats! 

And then today.....another wonderful adoption day! Three more adoptions! As most of you know, Yvonne came back to FFRC with Barb who is visiting for 2 weeks. Yvonne just wasn't a happy girl with the family cats at Barb's. So....that's what is most important. Their happiness. We discovered that Yvonne and Brandywine got along just fine together. So, they are now placed in their new home together. I've already had one phone call from the Dad. All is well. Both have been bird watching thru the patio doors! Our third adoption for today is Oriah. It's official (just like we were hoping!).  Oriah will be staying with her foster/now forever home family! This is good. With Oriah's specific food needs, it was difficult here at the Rescue Center, but easy in her new home.

We had BOXES last night. So many grateful feelings given to you all for your help. 
Mary C--visitor with niece for 3 days--many things and we are so thankful. Just to be on top of things, our latest intakes have been kittens. Carol is doing wonderful.  She's ornery for no bigger than she is--so sweet.  Then there's Murphy. She's a dilute calico--so so much improved. She's on antibiotics still but has progressed to being down on the floor to play. She's a loverbug now. Loves to eat. 

Then we also have Trucker, just very recently named. When asked if he liked that name, I swear he lifted his chin in a nod! This is a little 6 week old-ish kitten. A brown tiger, boy. His beginning of life is a bit of a mystery--a couple different thoughts. His back legs are fused at the knees--both of them. The hips are forward, which makes his back legs up under his tummy, aiming for his head. They are rather bothersome. At times he can get them off to the side for easier mobility. But he's a happy boy, already on the floor. We have to lift him into the litterbox while he's so little, as his legs "boing" into things and prevents him from moving forward. He loves to eat and to play. He's good friends with Murphy.

We also took in a new kitten late afternoon today. She is about 5 1/2-6 weeks old, a brown tiger/torti mix. A nice little kitten who was extremely thirsty. She drank and drank and is still trying to get her fill.  No name yet, but soon! She was also so very hungry. Her test is negative. Here is her problem. A dog got a hold of her (we're told today it happened) and punctured her neck in a couple places.  Her neck and chin are now shaved and has been cleaned but the swelling is significant. She's already on antibiotics. Hopefully tomorrow the swelling will start going down. She's sleeping right now on a heater pad and looks contented. 

The Catstock planning has begun! Games have started to be organized again. Prizes have been ordered. It's September 6, Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00. The wonderful Strawberry Hill band will be here again! Lots of good food and friendship for the day! Come join the fun!

Your messages to me in regards to Milford have been received and rests with me. The friendship and support you have given me is so uplifting. I won’t lie—Milford’s death has shook me. I think the main reason is that this little fella didn’t ask for anything in his life except to be loved.  From the moment he was picked up from being tossed out of the car, he was loved.  I just wanted it to be a whole lot longer. He is greatly missed. I have had numerous cats and kittens coming up and sitting in my lap, rubbing and being so sweet.  It’s amazing the love these cats can give. And it’s also amazing the love and support you all give me. I will never ever take that for granted. I thank you for the fb messages, PM’s and the emails.

Updates: our Hamlin Hope is a wonderful boy. He is coming out more and more and is enjoying the attention. He’s eating good. I’m surprised, even with his severe tremors and chin tuck, he still is agile.  And I think he likes being here.   We also have Sadie. She is “loosening up”.  Remember, most of her life has been in a pen. I can tell beyond a doubt that she is enjoying the freedom of being out and making those decisions herself as to what she wants to do. Time will help!

All the surgeries from Monday are recovered. These kittens are wonderful and never slow down. Appetites are good and energy levels are high…..very high! Thanks to Joyce D. for providing pizzas on Monday.

We will have BOXES Weds. evening. Let’s start at 5:30, but know we may have to be flexible. We possibly may have an adoption late afternoon.

Walter is wonderful and doing super. He is on minimal meds and we have already seen a decrease in his circling. He seems very happy. Milo is now out and about in the Main Area. He’s explored every inch and seems very comfortable.

Thank you for “giving me space” right now. I just needed a bit of time off. I love this Rescue Center with a passion—just have to regroup again then I’ll be ready to go. Love this place so much and the kitties and cats and volunteers to stay down too long. Thanks for understanding.

Physical on Sadie:  another interesting one.  Physical good, has mouth damage from hitting head on floor but appears to be healing.  No spay today since she had just received a Depo injection before arrival (this can lower her immune system). 

Milford:  there's no way to say this but to come right out and tell it.  Milford passed away.  My heart is literally broke in a thousand pieces.  All was fine, his monitor was beeping along and then it slowed a few beats and then it simply stopped. We spent much time this afternoon in discussion. We have come to the conclusion that his blood pressure had dropped too low, too fast.  Something good will come of this. We are already scheduling a class for myself, Bonnie and Sue to learn even more about our wonderful new monitor system. We WANT TO KNOW MORE about how to prevent deaths. This monitor we have can help us. So, very soon, a class will be scheduled.  We will make his death be something that is good in the long run.

I am in need of taking a bit of time off. Please forgive me if I'm not with you in the cam world as much for a short time. Just need a bit of a break. It's been tough these last few weeks. We've discussed here today the extra troublesome cases we have had in this year. We can only continue to educate people---spay and neuter and to treat animals with kindness. Thank you in advance, for understanding. I need some healing time. We have a sign on our refrigerator here---Put aside all anxious thoughts and be at peace.  That's where I need to head.

Happy 4th of July for tomorrow! It'll be a wonderful Independence Day! I've convinced the cats they cannot stay up late to watch the fireworks.  They've begrudgingly have listened....maybe.

Our new kitten Carol is doing wonderful. She's the new silver grey/white baby girl. So much energy. She appears healthy and oh so active! Won't be long until she'll make her way to the Main Area. The other new kitten is Purrgo, the siamese kitten. A handsome fella.  A bit shy but we're all working on doses of TLC for him. 

Milford is such a dear. He loves to be cuddled.  There's no doubt his legs are a problem. They just get mumbled-jumbled underneath him. We keep his legs wrapped most of the day with the wraps coming off at night. He spends the nights in Dodger's Pen. He's such a wonderful kitten. Happy boy!

McHoney is also doing great. She is a fiesty little torti--always playing hard and coaxing even the big cats to play with her. Such a pretty girl.  Pablo and Corby are doing terrific. Both are growing and are so playful. Milo, the newest CH cat is in the Main Area all the time now. He loves people, gets along great with all the cats and is using the litterbox 100%--a really good happening! 

Hamlin Hope....this is a very special boy. He is now coming out whenever we call to him. He loves his tummy and back rubbed. He's eating much better and can purr. I'm truly thinking he is not a CH cat, but one that has much nerve inflammation/damage from the way his neck was torqed so far backwards at birth. All of his siblings passed away as tiny babies. We've started him last night on anti-inflammatories and hope this will give him some relief from his severe tremors. He especially responds to men, so Steve has been spending time just petting him.  He's just ever so very sweet.

Two new kittens have arrived. They came last evening, rather late. One is a beautiful torti type American Short Hair, the other is a really pretty tiger with "special" markings. Both were found down the road from FFRC, right smack on the road, just walking along. I'm sure they were just then dropped off. I'm so thankful they were not hit by a car. They are both females and about 8 weeks old. I was very tired when they arrived last night. There were still volunteers here--they ALL said---what can we do to help. They jumped up, and sure made me feel good by being so helpful. As I've said before---FFRC has the best volunteers ever!

I am humbled beyond belief.  I am beyond words. I have just taken an adventure into the world of facebook and read so many of the posts from yesterday. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your very kind words, your well wishes, your compassion, your memories of our cats that have been adopted.  What I'm the most thankful for is......your friendship.

I am so blessed to be surrounded by family, awesome volunteers and to actually be able to FEEL the friendship from you all is truly an amazable thing. Yesterday was a horrible day for me--just felt overcome with the loss of these babies. But, even then, I knew in my heart that I'll always "go on".  And so....today is a new day. It's filled with wonder. And these kittens and cats that are here in this rescue--they are so ALIVE with energy--they give me great joy and peace. Life goes on and so will I.  Thank you all for your boost.

Today Muffin, our Covie cat, is 11 years old. She is our only calico cat and arrived here 9/14/04. Our volunteer Martha brought Muffin here.  Happy Birthday, Muffin.

Just got our monthly report from Amazon. They deposited $388.55 into our account---thanks to you all who order Amazon items thru our website!

We have all but 8 packages sent out now from the Catathon!  If you haven't sent your PayPal in yet or check, we'll keep your items safe until we hear from you.  That day still is a wonder of amazing things. 

We will have BOXES this evening at 6:00.  

I just had a piece of chocolate that also gives a little message.  My message for today -- Love with your whole heart and feel the joy!  How perfect is that!!
