Tuesday July 4 - Remote status update from Jacci
Hi everyone - it's lenz (the web guy) - I have a late in the day official update from Jacci - I will be paraaphrasing but it all comes from her! Thinks are good (But hot as heck!) at the center... Flat cats everywhere!
Happy 4th of July to all! Dont worry too much about us!
- From Jacci - Paraphrased - ...
Everything is going good but it is hotter than hot – we recorded 94 degrees inside the rescue center – INSIDE! We are wilting! But continuing on...
Cats are all flat cats during the day – They know how to handle this heat - they are all sprawled out to dissapate their body heat which is great but you gotta watch out for flat cats as you walk though the center...we do have the window and door open to the outdoor enclosure so they can go out there but even then they flatten out!
The three new new kitties now have names – the 2 girls are tabitha and tallulah – and the boy is tiki – those names came from the "Name a cat" portion of the "Cat-a-thon"… They are doing great and will be moved in to the main center soon - they are still very small so there is no hurry...
Door to junes room is open, which means that alphie and meggie are both out and about and doing good in the general population.
there arte two adoptions pending on some adult cats, but more on that later... You understand...
And there are 3 other cat adoptions on hold right now... Queen, Daymo and Sugar Plum...
BIG TIME Thanks so much for all the help and support during this time, This power outage is testing us to our limits... But we have had folks stop by and doing the laundry – bringing ice and water – The chickens have a had watermelon every day – Today we almost lost 6 chickens but thanks to the help we cooled them down and they are fine.
Jennaradar is doing her job really well – thanks to everyone who has donated to feed her…
Per the advice of the cammers jacci has opened boxes for item that were needed. When the cam is back up jacci will go over donations. It might be in the form of a recorded message or a th end of a boxes broadcast. If something came in during the outage keep in mind it was 100 degrees during the outage! This is lenz talking. Its hot. if she misses a box or donation - dont be offended. She is trying to keep track.
Her own words "We are sweating like little piggies and I usually dont whine – but its hot enough without AC to whine so I did a little last night" – In my opinion she deserved to…
More in her own words... "Cats are not playing much – bravo is doing well – but the vet consult was that bravo would be better off without his rear legs… Jacci stresses personally that he will do better after surgery..."
Skip this and know Bravo will be fine (read it for details) "his left femur is smashed beyond repaid – which is why that leg is useless and the right leg is malformed beyond repair. Both are more of a hindrance – he is not using them at all – they are in his way – the right leg alone is confirmed as a painful situation – surgery will be scheduled after he is 2 pounds – he is already doing every things the other kitties do – he will be fine after this surgery – this decision was not made lightly – based on his long term health and being comfortable. As awful as it is the removal of both legs is in his best interest they wiil use the thigh muscles to build a pad for him to scoot around better… Regardless he will be fine – BRAVO the brave…
He is a tought little booger at 1 lb 8 oz – he gets something in his head and will not will quit - BRAVO THE BRVAVE - BTW - Mariska and mclovin are both healing very well
FYI - Farrah is doing GREAT on her FULL dose of meds (She's had it tonight) – her tongue got chewed up during the seizure a few days ago but has healed up really well already...
