I was asked about a paper I wrote about 5 years ago--if I would repeat it, so here it is!

Just for fun...but in all seriousness too.

THINGS YOU DON'T SAY TO A CAT RESCUER:  (I truly have heard every single one of these here at Friends of Felines' Rescue Center), by Jacci Moss

Do you have any unspayed cats I can adopt? My kids want to see babies born.

I have mice---I need a cat.

Can I give you my unspayed cat and take one of yours that's already fixed?

Why on earth would you spend money on a health test for a cat? I just put them all together anyway in my barn.

You don't have an adoption process, do you?  That's dumb.

I want to adopt a cat but want to make sure he will like my cat I have at home. I brought him with me and just put him in your office with those other cats.  (when told to get his cat picked up, he said why?  when asked if his cat has fleas...yes, he does)

My cat is peeing everywhere. Will you take it?  I'll take one of yours that knows how to use the litterbox.

Will you take these kittens that my mama cat had? I still have some of her first litter from spring time.

My cat is really old and not any fun anymore. Will you take it?

My cat has a huge sore on it's stomach and I don't believe in having vet bills.

All cats are the same. Can I just come in and take one and go without anyone bothering me with questions?

I don't worry about how many litterboxes I have---they can go outside to potty.

I really want a cat but can't afford one.  Will you just give me one?

Why do you want to know about my other cats?  They died---they just died. I don't know why and I didn't take them to the vet.

It's always better to have a litter before spaying a girl cat.

I only want a female cause they won't spray.

I want a cat for my aunt's cousin's friend.  No, they don't know I'm here.  No, I'm not positive they want a cat.  If they don't, I have a friend who might take it.

I have allergies and can't hardly tolerate them. I don't even like cats. But my girlfriend does. So, if I have a cat, she might like me better.

I will NOT neuter my tomcat. Then he won't be able to hunt or defend himself.

I want a cat that is orange.  Don't care about anything else, as long as it's orange.  And with a white front paw.

I have a new boyfriend and he doesn't like cats, so I'm wondering if you'll take my 3 cats. I don't want them anymore.

I can hide the kitten in the closet upstairs until my daughter's birthday, it's only 3 days away.

So my other cats aren't neutered that I have in the house---what does that have to do with this one that I want to adopt? I promise I will take it to the vet if it gets hurt.

Do you have any 3-4 week old kittens that I can have?  I just want to bond with it when it's tiny. You want a vet reference too?  Why? I don't have a vet.

You might want to check that grey tiger white cat by the door.  I just hit it with the door when I walked it and he fell over. He's still down.

Sure I have vet references. I spent $650 on my last cat--it's collar was so tight it needed surgery to fix his neck.

Yes I have vet references. Last year I paid my vet over $200 to try and save my cat. He died though. Vet said he was so dehydrated and had too many fleas, so he died.

And yet people still ask me................Why do you have an adoption procedure? I will turn down anyone that questions our adoption procedure. I am a firm believer that adoption application forms are very important to help find homes for our rescued cats and kittens.

Take care and have a wonderful day!

About 80% of all of Catathon items have now been mailed!  Our mailing crew is phenomenal--Lynnette, Marcia, Beth, LJ, Tammy and Keith--big thanks! We are caught up now on payments and sending out. As soon as the remaining items' payments are received, they will go out the door too!

We are busily straightening up the buildings where all these items were stored--Kitty City, Sheds 3 and the Golf cart shed.  Getting back to normal.......as much as normal is around here!

I've heard from the family that adopted Velveteen. Her new name is Bella. She has settled into her new home very well. Their other cat Zazzles is also adjusting to Bella's and all the energy a kitten brings! She is getting lots of attention, love and snuggles.

I've also seen Mercury and Madge. They are growing and it's quite obvious that they love their new mom and dad.

And to add to this busy time, we took on 11 new kittens. Most don't have names yet but hopefully today they will.

Tinora--female, brown tiger & white.  Found by a volunteer at a Tinora ballgame. I feel she obviously was tossed from a car--has multiple abrasions on the face and a laceration on her right front leg. Her little right front paw is also crushed--so very sore. She is on antibiotics and soreness meds. She is 7 1/2 weeks old, arrived on 6/25. Her birthday is 5/4/19.  Such a sweet babe.

These next 11 kittens do not have names yet!
This is one litter:--their birthdays are 5/15/19
Female, grey tiger, 4 white feet, grey face

Another litter:

Female, medium long fur, brown tiger

Today will be to get their medical records updated and get names to these kittens. All are sweet, ornery and active.  The 2 little black/whites are very small yet but are keeping up nicely with the bit older ones!

And we've had 3 more adoptions since noted in blog:
6/24--Tily was adopted. She was one of the 4 Some T's. The family was very excited and had waited for her to be spayed. Such an extra sweet kitten.

6/26--Snoopurrs adopted.  She was one of the Sweetie Kitties. Another super nice kitten going into a great home!

And Hope wanted me to mention her as an official adoption (again)!  She is still being syringed fed and that is ok.  She's still so tiny.  But mighty--I saw her yesterday doing the "puff up walk" as she tried to grab the tail of an adult.  She wacked it and then had the good sense to run......and run fast!  Hope has been spending a bit of time inside my home but the majority of her time is still in the rescue center. It's good for her to have kittens to play with.

All is well here. Getting ready for 3 big surgery spay/neuter dates coming up the first half of July.  Lots of treatments to give due to all the kittens--vaccines, worming, flea prevention, etc.  Keeping us kitty hopping busy!

A super big thanks to all the people who made this Catathon possible by providing all the items that were in the baskets and all the individual items. Without you all, this Catathon would not be possible. You provided 95% of the items in Catathon!

A big thanks to our volunteers. Many of our volunteers have been with us for years. Some are just new in the last year. Each and everyone of them is important to FFRC. They are the ones that help keep this place together. They are not only volunteers of the highest caliber, showing love and compassion but they are our friends. And that is what makes this an easy place to be at.

Our friends and volunteers provided two awesome meals for everyone--absolutely delicious foods! Many thanks.

It truly takes a village of people to make this Rescue Center work: volunteers, mods, admins, chatters, supporters, lurkers, tweeters, family, vets, staff, fb friends, instagram friends.  Thanks for being a part of our village!

I also made an announcement during Catathon.  After much internal thinking and decision thinking, I made up my mind.........I was going to adopt little Hope.  I normally do not do this....believing that these kittens and cats have the right to their very own home and should be adopted.  It dawned on me (after talking to my family), that I too can be an adoptor!  So, little Hope is now Hope Moss.  For now, while she is so little and still being bottle/syringe fed, she is in the Rescue Center where I can keep track of her. She's already made a few visits in the house. But, she needs kitties to play with--her energy level and braveness is high!

I'd like to pass on the ending of Catathon:
Wow—what an awesome Catathon! Our 10th one!

ALL of this effort today is because of the cats, because we love them and care for them and have the desire to help them and to find them homes. We truly have the greatest volunteers in the world.  We have support systems from our families. And we have friends. YOU make up that awesome wonderful FFRCNation—we are a team, a family that has come together, purely for love of the cats and the desire to help them.  FFRCNation stands for Many Countries, One Heart, One Mission, One Nation.

We’re all in this together. And we’re a pretty good team together! One of the keys to what makes this Rescue Center successful for the cats is YOU.  While we are HERE and you are THERE, we all have our different things we do to keep us going.  WE HERE are the hands-on caretakers, taking care of the physical, medical and emotional needs of this rescue center. The volunteers give their love, compassion and hearts to FFRC.  YOU THERE are important in the role YOU play—you are our emotional supporters, always telling us—YOU can do this, We have your back, to lean on you.  You have told us these wonderful words for years. And that is HUGE to me.  Even though that cam is just a plastic ball, it brings us all together.  And for that, I am grateful.

The purpose of this Catathon is to help us meet some goals and to help us continue on financially.  Isn’t it a bummer to have to think about money!!   But…..it’s part of life. We DO need your financial support. You have again shown me that FFRC is important to you too.  Always know that I am very respectful of all donations—it’s something YOU don’t HAVE to do, yet you do it! And please don’t ever ever think that I take this support lightly.  It means so much to me. The financial worry of carrying on this Rescue Center is huge for Steve and me. But, time and time again, you have shown that you want us to keep on going. And we do keep on going because we have such a passion for what FFRC stands for.

I always have this worry in my head—how do I possibly and effectively convey my gratitude?  It’s hard to verbalize it big enough. But, please…know my heart is filled with thankfulness for each of you and for every penny donated to FFRC.   I will always give my best,  to provide the best medical care that we can, to make every cent count, to stand by each cat and let them know they are important and to do my best at finding wonderful homes for them.

You know, I see this fairly often on FB—how you thank myself and FFRC for saving this cat or that cat.  BUT, we could not possibly do that saving without YOU.

Remember those Abel babies and how sick they were?  You helped rescue them by supporting their lab work, all their many meds and their eye ointments. They have all been adopted and doing good.

Remember our dear sweet Mowgli?  Oh what a special girl she was. You helped rescue her by supporting her two surgical procedures to place her feeding tube, her antibiotics, her soreness meds and her special tube feeding foods.

Remember Manville?  You helped rescue him too. He had to have his tail amputated. You helped with his antibiotics and his special ear medicines. He is now adopted.

Remember Barin? Such a wonderful boy. You helped rescue him. Barin had to go to a cardiologist for all sorts of tests. He also had tests at Dr. Darcy’s office. He is now adopted.

Remember Boaz, or Bozi as we called him?  He’s the one that fractured his leg here.  You rescued him as well.  He had to go to the vet’s for x-rays and then back again for his FHO—femoral head ostectomy  surgery. Afterwards, you helped with his antibiotics and soreness meds. He is also adopted.

These are just a few examples. Every vaccine we use, every wormer, all the flea meds, the tests that we do, the ointments and supplements—these are things that you help finance for us. YOU are as much a rescuer as what we are. And I am grateful for this.

Quote from Desmond Tutu---Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.”

We give these cats our rescue center, they give us pure joy.
We give these cats food and nutrition, they give us love and loyalty.
We give these cats hugs and kisses, they give us their deep booming purrs.
We give these cats the love in our hearts, they give it back in unconditional love.

Now.......to start thinking of Catstock, which is September 7th! COme one, come all!

More adoptions to last a couple days!
Manville--he was adopted 6/20. He went into a home with another big black cat who was looking for a friend! I have a feeling that Manville is going to be very happy!

Kayala--she was adopted 6/20.  This adoption was going to happen next week but I asked if they would consider taking her earlier. They were able to change some plans and came and adopted her early! She has a sunporch that overlooks a large garden that is visited by critters! I've already heard from this family and all is happy!

Gracie O'Malley--was adopted 6/21.  She went into a quiet home with a new mama. When this lady visited last week, Gracie seemed very interested in her.

Squidgie--wow--he wasn't here long. He went to the vets for an x-ray of bladder.  All was well, a tech fell in love with him and he decided that was his new mama. A good home for him!

We have more adoptions this coming week too!

We need to also talk about the calico mama and her 2 kittens.  Something I hadn't mentioned before--she actually had 3 kittens, 1 died before mama even came in.  Things were going good the first few days of her arrival with the other 2 kittens.  Had her tests--were negative.  And then things went downhill.  One of the little ones stopped nursing, became cold and passed.  The second one, the following day, was following suit.  And mama too was not well at that time. Everything about her said something was not right.  Her leuk / fiv test was repeated and this time we had a positive.  You may ask--why did it not show on the first test?  She probably didn't have enough antibodies built up in her to show on the first test. But, by a few days, it did.  This is why I always always do a second test on ALL the kittens and cats in 4 weeks after arrival. We have good faith in our test--it's one of the best, but if the antibodies aren't enough to show, it will come up with a negative. The majority of those that would truly be a positive, will show up within those 4 weeks.  Is everything perfect about tests?  Absolutely not. But, as Dr. P always told me---you do your very best in every aspect of this cat rescue and then you never have to second guess your actions.  So, mama and her babies are now together in peace and comfort.

Maybe another point to make:  Yes, we do call ourselves a no-kill.  Maybe a better word for it is rarely.   If a cat tests positive for FIV or Leukemia, we do euthanize. Most of our FIV or Leuk positives(and sometimes both) are very ill upon arrival, already showing the signs of having this disease.  Euthanasia is a better choice than suffering. I've said this before......euthanasia actually means "a good death".  If a cat or kitten arrives in severe condition, whether it be from an injury or illness, if it is in the process of dying, we do help them cross. And we do this with dignity, calmness and love. All are petted and kissed and made comfortable. These are extremely hard decisions to make but once made, I always feel a bit of peace, knowing in my heart that this particular cat or kitten is now not suffering. Sometimes life "out there" is so very cruel to cats.  Some are hurt on purpose, some are so so sick, some have not been shown love--there's all sorts of hard things. But, I will guarantee, once they enter our doors, they are treated medically and shown much love. And if those hard decisions have to be made, I know with every part of me, that they have experienced something kind. I know some may not agree with me and that is ok. I have to do what I know is best in my being and heart, for each and every cat. And if ending a dying cat's life to bring it peace, then that is done.  Tears are always shed for each one--it never is easy but .......if the heart feels right about it, then it's the right decision.

I'd like to say a big thanks to Mudjie who does the majority of being our Catetary. She's done a superb "job" of this--it's a hectic time of box recording but she does it!  She's awesome and much appreciated.

Deb11111--Another thanks to give--a donation to FFRC, as a way of thank you!
Marti W--donation to FFRC
And an extra special donation from Kenzie who is 10 years old. She came and visited the kitties and cats. She said--"I love cats and it makes me happy thinking about what you guys do! I would like to give you something--a donation".  I just loved this!

Well..............tomorrow is the big day we've been waiting for.  After months of preparation, it's almost here. So many details involved but we're there!  Bring it on...........Catathon!!  It's one of my favorite days of the year!  And my heart is always filled with thankfulness.

As you know, we have 7 rounds. It starts at 1:00.  There will be ten minutes of explanation, so the first Round starts at 1:10.  In between each round is a 5 minute break. We keep on time and go by FFRC time!
A couple points of info:
**All the kittens are safe--they will be in the back Thumper's Room. They will even have a couple kittysitters to make sure all is well and that their tummies are full and boxes are scooped!
**A few adult cats may be up during Catathon--that is a-ok!
**The sooner your paypal/check/money order is received after Catathon, the sooner your package/box will go out. Just keep in mind that there will be a whole lot of items going out--be patient!  Lynnette is awesome at this shipping thing and she has her "mail team ready and willing" to help.
**For the winners:  the amount that you got your item for includes the shipping........but, if you'd like to toss in a few extra dollars to help with shipping, we won't complain!
**At the end of Round 7--hang out with us!  We have things to go over, thanks to give and that awesome wonderfully anticipated Grand Total!!

Thursday, June 20, 2019

We are almost there--3 more days to Catathon!  Yesterday was the end of the Catathon Fun-Raiser! There are 10 items. These 10 item's winners will be drawn during Catathon--2 in each round from 2 thru 6!  Consolation prizes are to be drawn in Round 7!  They have all done very well!

Today is the last day for the 4-fur!  That's where you can make a donation from $1 to $50 and it will become a 4-furred. Example:  $1 becomes $4.  $50 becomes $200!  All thanks to a wonderful FFRC friend who has made this possible!  These amounts will also be added into the grand total.

Today Arthur Phone Company will come around 10:00 ish to hook up the 7 lines that we will need for the Catathon! That's always a fun time. We need cam help on this. Once cables are hooked up, we will give a thumbs up--and then YOU can flood the line at 419-393-2400.  It'll only take a couple minutes. This will help us to be sure phones are working properly and the roll-over is doing it's thing.

We have put the bidding boards together and they are ready! On Monday, we put these boards on their tables and moved the cam to make sure that all works. I must say--that cam has an awesome picture. The numbers on the bidding board were nice and clear!  We also checked the cam that will be on the phone people (at times) and that too is ready.

Tables were put up just to make sure the phone people's position is accurate.  Things changed for this year due to our renovation! Looks good.

The big screen TV that will go under the shelter house for visitors to watch will arrive tomorrow, Friday. Rent a Center is donating this rental to FFRC!  Werlor's (our trash picker-uppers) will be here Friday as well to take an extra load from us.

HEAR YE, HEAR YE---today is the last day to pre-register! It's simple to do--takes less than a minute!  Just go to our website at fofrescue.org and click on Pre-Registration.  Tha way, even if you are thinking of bidding, it will shorten your time on the phone! Thanks so much!  Pre-registration ends at 3:00 pm today.

Catathon Pre-Registration surprise!  As an added incentive to pre-registering, we have a surprise. Afterall, it benefits you and FFRC to do this!  During Catathon, all the names will be in a container and a name will be pulled.  The prize: a cloth FFRC satchel, cat toys, cat crinkle tunnel and a crate pad!

We have thanks to give: Peggy H, visitor--TP, Wet Ones, gal. bleach, alcohol, kitty snackers, 10 Friskie cans, FF, 2 cans tuna

This past Monday we had our HumaneOhio surgery day. We sent up 31 cats!  This broke down to 14 males and 17 females. Many thanks to Lynnette, Donnajb, MaryBraid and Becky M for helping with check ins.  It's a very busy 40 minutes or so, to just get all the cats checked in.  After check ins, we double check paperwork, count cats and double check the count of cats and then load them up on the big Neuter mobile for their transport to HumaneOhio.

We had several adoptions this week so far!
6/16--Mr. McWiggles went into his new home. Such a gorgeous cat and will have all the attention he wants from his new mama.
6/16--Velveteen went to her new family.  She has kids in this family to love her. I believe they loved her the moment they set their eyes on her!
6/17--Marge & Mercury has their new home! I've seen pictures of them watching out the patio doors. They sure look happy!
6/17--Susie Q & Stetson went to their new home together. This family picked these two kittens out weeks ago and have been patiently waiting to take them. They have visited them often.
6/18--Valiant was adopted to a family where he will have lots of attention. This is one of the sweetest kittens ever.

Manville will be going to his new home today. Gracie O'Malley will be going to her new home tomorrow! Yeah for adults being adopted!

WE have also taken in a few more cats:
PD--grey tiger/white, male. Volunteer Donnajb was coming here Monday morning early and saw him laying on Power Dam road (hence his name). He was ON the road, laying. She thought maybe he wasn't even alive. When she approached him, he got up, came, purred and was fine! He has conquered us all--super nice young cat. His birthday is 7/4/19. PD is a grey tiger/white.  He went up to HumaneOhio to be neutered on the day he arrived.

Squidjie--a Lynx point siamese. He was found in a yard, laying on his side, bleeding from his rear end area. The person didn't know what happened.  He had fleas and very bloody urine. He's on antibiotics and all soft food. Is now eating better. His birthday is 5/14/17.  Such a handsome boy with magnificent blue eyes.

Disco--female, white and gray  tiger with 5 dots on his back. She is about 9 weeks old and was wandering around for a bit, all by himself. She had fleas and was very hungry. Really sweet kitten. Her birthday is 4/16/19.

And yes, we do have a new mama and 2 babies, but for right now, holding information. Their health isn't the best. Thank you in advance for understanding.

Today, BOXES are at 1:00. Due to the busy-ness of Catathon, we did not have boxes earlier this week, so there's quite a few! Bring a snack, a drink, prop your feet up and enjoy!

Onward to Catathon!  Have a terrific day!

Sunday, June 16, 2019

7 more days to Catathon!  It's coming very quickly! And this will be a very busy week!

Today and tomorrow, we have possibly 7-8 adoptions now that we had surgeries yesterday! It's always so wonderful to see these kittens and cats go into their new homes even though we miss them.

Yesterday, we did 20 surgeries--11 neuters and 9 spays.  All went well.
Spays: Ginga, Snoopurrs, Snuggzy, Suzzie Q, Rascal, Velveteen, TIly, Marge.
Neuters: Bub, Stetson, Valiant, Verity, Zendaya, Zini, TIng, TObias, Toronto and Mercury.
Our total now for 2019 is 547.

We also did 1 spay and 1 neuter for the public.
We did not spay Maggie--she was just a tiny bit congested and we didn't want to chance it.

We did a few physicals.
Manville--he's ready for his adoption!  Physical good, ears much better
Mr. McWhiskers--good physical
Pania--physical good except slight head congestion.  Long acting antibiotic given.

Enola--physical good but her growth on her neck had indeed grown. So.....it was removed and it was the most interesting thing.  It was a "cyst", packed with fur! So, no danger there.

Janie--our Janie has 2 issues.  One--her cataracts have advanced so her sight is diminished somewhat. Also she has a tender spot on her lower back which may be attributing to her stiff rear legs.  We also have to remember she's almost 12.  Her treatment--anti-inflammatories and instructions to stay off the towers and off of the cat walks (she likes the ones here in the purple office room) for at least a week.  I've never seen her fall, but there's no doubt she's not as agile as a cat (even though she thinks so!).

BIg thanks to Gusti for providing the drinks for surgery day and to Joyce D for providing the pizza lunch!  yummmmm

I'd also like to thank Becky M, Dawn E, Mary Braid, Lostgirl, Pablo, Donnajb and Gem for their help yesterday.  Some help with the daily chores here. And some help with the post-op care of the kittens and cats.  When a surgery is over, we put the kitten or cat on a table so we can check them over, make sure respirations are good, remove their endotrach tube, trim toenails, check ears.  Then they are passed over to the ladies in PawMart where the kittens/cats are held, kept warm, respirations are watched. They are our eagle eyes and take such good care of them. It's such a comfort knowing they are in good, trained hands.

We have thanks to give!
Chris S--donation to FFRC
Heather W--donation to FFRC
BillieK--donation to help with Hop and her little friends
Lynne W--donation to FFRC
Fran D--donation in honor of Vern's birthday
Pamela C--donation for FFRC
David P from Netherlands--donation to FFRC

I'd like to give another thanks to everyone who helped us with restocking our baby food shelves.  Those jars look mighty nice there, sitting, waiting for the next kitten or cat that needs an extra boost!

Today starts Catathon Fun-Raiser.  There is a video that runs periodically on the cam.  You can also go to our fb pages for info! We have 10 awesome items. This fun-raiser is over on the 19th, Weds. at noon!  The winning tickets will be done during Catathon--2 each in Rounds 2,3,4,5,6.  In Round 7, we will draw the consolation winners!

Catathon Pre-Registration continues on!  But it ends on the 20th, Thursday.  It's simple to do--takes less than a minute!  Just go to our website at fofrescue.org and click on Pre-Registration.  Tha way, even if you are thinking of bidding, it will shorten your time on the phone! Thanks so much!

Catathon 4-fur is also still going on until Friday!  Any donations that are sent to FFRC, by a check or thru PayPal that is labeled for the 4-fur, will have your amount (from $1 to $50) quadrupled!  That means your $1 donation is worth $4 and your $50 donation turns into a magical $200!  All this because of a wonderful anonymous, generous friend!  My very deep thanks!

Tomorrow, in addition to a few adoptions, we will be setting up the Main Area for a trial run, complete with the bid boards.  Because of our new room size, we have a different set up. The new setup mostly concerns the phone people though. We will be doing this in the morning.

We also have HumaneOhio surgery tomorrow--early morning check ins and then the late afternoon check outs. Hoping for a full schedule.

This week we will be double checking on the big TV for Catathon--Rent-A-Center is donating it free for this event. This way, people under the shelter house will be able to watch!  Werlor's will also be doing a second pick up for us--that way we have plenty of room in the bin.

On Thursday, Arthur Phone Company will be here around 10:00 am to set up the 7 lines that we will need for Catathon.  After it's set up, we will have a practice run again. Each year, we ask the viewers to flood the phones so we know that all of the phones are working properly and that the call roll-over is also working properly. So, we will need your help with this. We'll give you the signal, on Thursday when we are ready!

Here's to a catnip high-pawsome 5 for a wonderful week where everything goes smoothly!  lol   You all have a wonderful Sunday.  The kittens are already grooming in anticipation of visitors arriving this week.  They have their nail trim appointments made and their fur-brushers in place!

Little Hope is hanging in there.  Although her body is still very very thin, she is up from her arrival weight of 10 ounces to now..........12 ounces!  And her appetite is picking up.  She's not eating by herself yet so is being syringe fed. Her friend Claire is good for her.  The two like to snuggle up and nap. They are now in the top two condos of the back Thumper's Room.

Tuesday, June 11,19

12 days to Catathon! Oh my! Our Catathon facebook Auction is on right now but is done at noon.  Starting Sunday is the beginning of our Catathon Fun-Raiser. It is over at noon on the 19th.  We have the big 55' TV with sound board reserved for the shelter house so visitors and volunteers and view the Catathon.  Today we will call Arthur phone company and make sure all will be ready for placing the 7 phone lines in.  Pre-Registration is still going on--will be over on the 20th.

In addition to this, this coming Saturday is our FFRC surgery date. All slots are filled with FFRC spays/neuters. That following Monday, June 17 is another HumaneOhio day.

Extra busy days right now in preparation of surgeries and Catathon. Plus, most importantly, is the care of the cats and kittens.  RIght now, the doors are open and the kittens are free roaming from the back to the front.  Mama Kayala has decided she's pretty much done nursing the kittens. She spent last night in the Main Area instead of where the smaller kittens are.

We took in 3 new kittens, all separately.
Ginga, (pronounced Gin-ja), female, slate gray, 10 weeks old. Her birthday is 4/1/19. She arrived yesterday.  A friend of a volunteer found her all by herself. Appears in fairly good health.

Claire, female, long hair, muted torti, 7 weeks old. Her birthday is 4/29/19. She arrived after being found by herself too, by one of our mod family. She has a slight URI, fleas and earmites.  Earmites are already being worked on. She's on antibiotics for her kitty cold and the fleas are already gone.
Both of the above are names from Name A Cat list.

Hope, female, looks like a Himalayan.  Emaciated/dehydrated. Only weighs 10 ounces.  Today she weighs 10.10 ounces--a tiny tiny gain, but every little bit is good.  She is being syringe fed often. She arrived with a URI, both eyes pasted shut and bone thin. Hope was found alongside a road, in a ditch.  She's very "fragile" right now but she has a good spirit about her and seems to be a toughie.

The Double J kittens are doing great.  They are eating good now and have rounder tummies. Won't be long until they join the bunch on the floor.  These 3 kittens are very sweet and will add alot of fun to the group.

We had BOXES yesterday! We are very grateful!  The word got out that we were extremely low on baby food meat. You heard and you sent baby food!!!  We are so very thankful!

This past weekend was the Dance Studio Recital.  As in many years past, FFRC has managed the concessions as a fund-raiser. This year, we had a bonus from Shoney's! They donated all the ice we needed, napkins, plates and volunteer help! They also provided shirts for the volunteers that worked it! Many thanks to Elizabeth who organized this event for FFRC. Thanks also to: Bill & Angie L, Edna/Gem, Peggy S, Faithy, Becky M, Patrick, Vicki and Matt.  The Shoney volunteers were Dominic, Aubrey and Erica. Corey B (from Shoney's) brought two large coolers of ice for each time period (4). Big thanks to Jo Ann H (from Shoney's) who facilitated all of this help and donations.

This Concessions as able to raise $1198.08 for FFRC.  And......we had a bump-up of $51.92 which made our profit $1,200!!  We are very grateful for this.  This money will go towards a new batch of vaccines that we need to order--distemper, bordetella and leukemia!  Great news and lots of great effort.

All I can say is we have an awesome FFRCNation!
