Weds., March 6, 2019

My usual group helping me at my desk! Zelda and Magic front and center on the desk. Lucie beside me on a cushie. Henslie in my lap.  Coralie right behind me in the round brown bed, Spiker in the second bed behind my chair.  We play rotating laps--Henslie, Spiker and Lucie. And Asha is always on the Kuranda Tower behind my chair, 4th level up overwatching the desk! A good way to "work".

Many thanks for our Quickie Flash Sale yesterday.  Items are already being packed up, weighed and going out the door.  I appreciate all the blanket makers and the interest in them. This sale will help with part of the payment for our flea products for the next 3 months! 😀  Our projected amount for this sale is $501.  This will pay half of our bill! Many thanks!

Monday was a super spay/neuter day with HumaneOhio. We sent up 39 cats--18 males and 21 females. We also earlier this week, did a voucher spay--so one more female spayed!  Our 2019 total is now 209---119 females and 90 males. On our way to our new goal of 1200 for 2019!

We have thanks to give!  We're a very thankful bunch here for all the support you give to FFRC!

Update on Tim:  He traveled to his new home Sunday evening. He's settling in and has already met some other wildy friends, which he is very comfortable with his own kind.  His amputation is Thursday. FFRC will pay for this medical expense for Tim. After his suture removal, he will then go out into the giant outdoor sheltered yard where the ferals and extremely shy cats are kept. They have a good, happy life there. I consider this an adoption!

Update on Mowgli:  She continues to gain weight, although it's sometimes a bit of difficult for her to eat. We are keeping up with 2 different soreness meds for her which helps immensely. She is such an extraordinarily sweet girl. Loves to be petted and made a fuss over. She's come up to the Main Area a few times and seems fairly relaxed. She will make her way back to Thumper's Room to nap in the cat bunkbed there. It appears she has already been spayed. Dr. Darcy will take a look in her mouth on Saturday to see if there is a problem.  It's evident that a medical condition exists or possibly from a past mouth injury. We shall see soon.

This Saturday is our FFRC spay/neuter date.  We have all 6 of the black kittens scheduled--5 spays and 1 neuter.  Since it's a light surgery day for FFRC, we have opened it up to do 20 male neuters for the public. That filled up very quickly.

Update on Pinto:  I feel we made the right decision for Pinto. He is a full fledged Covie. The Covie world is much more to his liking than being made to be inside.  He's spotted at times and we're hoping will warm up more to us since he's in the environment of his choice.

Barin made his trip to Fort Wayne for his cardiologist appointment. He traveled beautifully there and back--very calm.  And he was calm in the vet office too. Here is his heart info:  His heart murmur is from a very mild stenosis of the pulmonary valve. This just slows down the return of blood by just a tiny bit. The heart is of normal size and thickness. Some cats showing his heart murmur will show a hole in the ventricular septum but he only shows a slight thinning in this area. He requires no medication or medical intervention. He can receive any wellness preventative treatment (vacc's, etc.) that we deem necessary. I'd say this is a superb report!  The tech showed him all around the hospital--and he enjoyed all the attention!

This clears the way for Barin to be adopted by JustMe, his to-be-new-mama.  This will happen next week some time.  I'm so so happy for Barin--it was truly a good report!

We also had another adoption--Puddy! Such a beautiful girl. She was adopted on 3/3 by a volunteer. The update on her is all good. She loves to play with her new friend--Cash.  Puddy also sleeps on Cash's bed! They are enjoying lots of playtime together.

Hard to believe--it's time to talk about 2019 Catathon!  This is a very busy fun-raiser for FFRC . If you have questions, please don't hesitate to email me or ask a mod!
