Sunday, May 5, 2019

Yesterday was our surgery day here at FFRC.  We did 1 neuter (public), 2 "nose correction" surgeries on 2 of our past Persian kittens, 4 spays, removed one of Bud's drainage tubes and restitched Mowgli's feeding tube and many physicals--proved to be a very busy day!

Our total spays/neuters for 2019, so far, is 393--215 spays and 178 neuters. Many thanks to GUsti for the drinks and to Joyce D for the pizza and breadsticks. Also thanks to our post-op volunteers who do the recovery of each and every cat.  They watch them, keep them warm, tend to them and make sure all is well while they are waking up. It's a comfort to have them help.  We have quite a few ladies who help with this!

Mowgli had her feeding tube restitched. She is slick at rubbing it and catching it on things despite her special endotube collar.  We also raised it up a few notches and I was having trouble getting her feeding down--was catching.  It's working much better now!

Bud had one of his two drainage tubes removed.  Area was flushed again. We will remove his last drainage tube on Tuesday and then he gets his inverted e-collar off!

Boaz had a good check.  Starting Tuesday he can come back to the Main Area! He will so love that.  For now he's loose in the front Thumper's Room and is enjoying watching out the window.

Here's the results of the physicals:
Coralie, Vernon, Cutie, Grace O'Malley, Zelda, Hensley, Lucie, Debbnie, Mitz, Spiker all had good physicals.
Derecho--his knee caps tend to "pop" (but all is fine--nothing needed), will schedule soon for a dental
PawPaw/Bruno--good.  Heart murmur 4/6--nothing needed
Pania--good.  Left eye remains the same (we treated for a week last month), all good with it.
Hatima--good.  Had her travel physical completed

All in all, we have a bunch of healthy cats!

We had BOXES on Friday--so many wonderful items!  We are thankful!

Remember Friskey and Sparkey?  They have a wonderful home and are so loved. Friskey had his 3rd birthday yesterday!

Tomorrow is our HumaneOhio surgery date. The following Monday is the second one for May. Hoping for high numbers--want to reach our goal for 2019!

The kittens in the Main Area are doing great.  Tummies are round, activity level is high and they are ever so cute!

We had an adoption yesterday. Our sweet Monique went to her new home. She will have a dad, a cat and a dog, plus a grandma and an aunt. What more could you ask for?!

Today, we have possibly 4 adoptions--Inga, Lucette, Muru and Addy.  Great homes coming up!

Farmyard:  we are WET!  Very wet. The ducks and Geese are happy about that though. The tiny guineas that we took on in the fall are now full fledged adults--we had 11 going into the winter and still have 11.  As soon as the farmyard dries up, the horses, donkey and goat will get a chance to go out onto the growing grass--a little at a time!

The outside cats--Firehouse cats, Covies, Barnies, Porchies all got their flea prevention this week.  We used Bravecto, so that will be good for 3 months--makes it much easier on them and for us!  The playground for the Covies is all raked and looks great. The playground yard has been mowed once already.

Have a really nice Sunday! Our mods on chat deserves a big thanks--they have banned over 400 trolls in just 9 months!
